So, this is the Zelda Oracles Level Editor. As you guess it, it's aimed at editing the Oracles games. EDIT: ZOLE now has Seasons support!! As of ZOLE 1.17, we can now edit Seasons maps. Link below.

Here is a video made by Lin, covering all of the features the editor has to offer as of ZOLE 1.12.4:
~~~~~~
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2u_XAlRZFWA
(Watch out, it's a little under 12 minutes)
~~~~~~
Lin has also coded ZOSE (Zelda Oracles Script Editor: allows you to edit events in the game (not text)), ZOTE (Zelda Oracles Text Editor: allows you to edit text in the game), and ZOCF (Zelda Oracles Chest Fixer: Allows you to get any item from a chest). All secondary tools listed are currently Ages-only.
There is also a tileset editor built into ZOLE, as well as an abundance of small tools, such as an enemy editor and a start map editor.

All of those tools should be put in to one big program, separation is so annoying....

Interesting stuff though, I could see myself doing something with this.

They were separated for organization. It's pretty difficult to code something of this caliber by yourself. I don't know if there are plans in the future to combine all the tools though. I'll ask, and let you know later.

UPDATE: Lin's added a 100% fully functional Tileset Editor (as seen very briefly in the demonstration video) to the main ZOLE editor. =D

As the GB/GBC engine is quite possibly my absolute favourite, this is great to watch.

I might end up working on something myself :p

Can you wait until ZOLE is more user friendly and faster workflow by having all tools in one place like hyrule magic as reference.

ZOLE itself holds a ton of tiny tools in itself. It's not just a level editor. It's got an enemy editor, start map editor and warp editor, to name a few. Also, from this point on, Lin is packing the separated tools in one download link. Much more convenient, methinks.

Not really, it's still a pain when you need to use multiple utilities like that instead of a single larger utility, especially when you consider you have to stop, close one, open another, edit, close that, then reopen in the first utility thanks to how windows file handles work :|

To be honest, I don't really mind lots of small utilities. It means you can also work around the inevitable bugs that large and complicated programs inevitably have.

Just makes me save and backup my work more regularly anyhow

It might be possible to extract those things from the game, but it'd be incredibly difficult to do so. Not to mention having to make sure each thing would work with ALTTP's coding.

The other thing is that GB Zeldas (and the tools) are all built around the concept that you are very...mobile. Hell, they're the only Zelda games besides II where Link can JUMP.

I will now remind you of the "GBA" Minish Cap (Roc's Cape in the sky dungeon), the GCN Four Sword Adventures (Feather item that powers up to a Cape), and possibly GBA Four Swords itself (can't remember that one very well).

If you REALLY want to stretch it, every 3D Zelda game has some form of jumping in it. But we don't talk about it like that.

I actually forgot Minish cap existed....and I never had a chance to play the GCN version.

And no, nothing in the 3D Zeldas count as "jumping"
