Smoking came up in one of the threads. Does anyone here smoke and has anyone smoked?

I never picked up on it, although it was really popular where I went to college. I couldn't stand the smell, the ash, and the cigarette butt litter, and I didn't want lung cancer. My mom smoked until around 1991 though.

Never. I think it's disgusting. Plus, I know the biology behind smoking and what it does. Emphysema is something I will go to great lengths to avoid.

Never smoked once, even though 3 of my 4 brothers did. Well, I guess I can't say never. One of my brothers got me to try a puff when I was like 8. Nearly choked myself to death. Never again after that have I put my lips to one.

Depends on the type of smoking you're referring to.
I don't smoke and probably never will, and I'm hardly curious about what it's like to smoke.

But most of my IRL friends do pass around the blunt a few times, and they still ask me if I want to toke with them. I'm just glad they don't force me. XD

I have an RL friend who smokes like crazy and even takes the butts and rolls them in paper to form new cigarettes. Her apartment is gross.

To elaborate:

Being around enough secondhand smoke to the point where it fucks you up entirely, and being ENTIRELY disregarded for the longest time when asking people to stop smoking? Yeah, it really makes one bitter.

I think it's why I have trouble breathing a lot.

I hate cigarette smoke... my mother smoked growing up, but she always did it outside. Still, somehow I've ended up not being able to stand that foul stench, and I tend to start coughing... nowadays when I see someone smoking I try to hold my breath subtly until I can walk past them.

My mom would leave the room when she smoked, at least.

My dad didn't like smoking and was trying to get my mom to quit, then I joined him in the battle after I was seeing a lot of public service announcements on the TV about what happens to smokers. I was like 4 then.

I think the majority of smokers don't like the fact that they still smoke. Many of them try to quit and fail. That doesn't make them a bad person, just not as strong willed to end their bad habit.

There are some people who enjoy smoking just for the sake of it, though. Like me and soda. I know its not good for me, but I like it so much!
