put an SD card into a Nintendo Wii disc drive slot
and it can't eject or anything
what a night

--------------------

Retard, moron, idiot. Don't care that you did it in the dark, you did it and now look
Wii: OUT
DS: OUT
I hope you're happy that you broke it just so you could listen to Lapfox Radio again (which you are doing now may I remind you)

yeppppppp

...How deep did it get in there?

I wouldn't imagine it being impossible to get out unless it's REALLY jammed in there, though

Maybe it wouldn't be impossible to get out at first

Except I tried to, and it just went in further. Now I can't see where it is

Just going to have to, disassemble it outright to get it out (fuck you Nintendo repair fee, $60 is NOT a good price for this)

It's one of those Red Wiis even, god dammit why did this shit happen to a L.E. item

Honestly, considering it's limited edition... I'd drop the $60 instead of risking breaking the entire thing.

I'm surprised there's no warranty on it or anything.

I'd be trying to get the thing out right now if mom didn't go complaining about it when she saw me starting on it. Dad got the screwdrivers out on the table, I assumed they were so I could get started on it past what I was (which was basically nowhere), but she says about how he thinks he can get it out without opening the thing up?

Last time I waited for him to do disassembly for me it took uh, weeks, wasn't it? If he doesn't hurry and start trying something by Friday I'm doing it myself (have not said this to anyone yet)

I still don't understand the why of this. Is like, the hole the SD went into in the disc slot is just as wide as the SD slot? :/ Nintendo -wanted- this to happen

Are you any good at disassembly? I'm just curious, 'cause I'm not and I tried to open up a spare NES cart I had that was broken.

I still haven't been able to put it back together. :X

It's gotta be all the way in there if it can't be taken out.

Maybe some really tiny pliers might do the trick?

Tiny pliers, a flashlight, or tweezers or something, or even scissors might be useful for grabbing it.

Or even shaking it out.

Worth a try, maybe?

Honestly? Never tried. Or at least, not that I remember. I am / was going by the guide though, and don't worry as I haven't even gotten one screw out yet.

Like I said, I tried to get it out at first but it just kept going further in. Hindsight: if I used some fucking tweezers to begin with instead of a long thin something, I probably wouldn't have had this problem.

Maybe I should mention I tried to Eject the disc that was already in it to push it out only after I had pushed it in too far. Wouldn't eject, and when I had the Wii powered off you could still hear the disc slowly spinning away in contact with the thing (or so I thought). ...oh boy, that better not be disc damage.

Dad talked about "tweezers or something" to get it out, I'll say what happened once it happens.

If the SD card is on top, it could be damaging the label, and not mean much.

On the other hand, it could be under it, and that would be terrible.

I'm not sure I would take the wii apart because even if you
get the disc drive out you still might not be able to reach the sd card

Actually, label-side damage is much worse than reflective-side damage, since the data is stored right underneath the artwork. Scratches on the other side can usually be buffed out with a repair kit.

Maybe they've fixed this problem with modern DVDs, I dunno.

Well er, in any case.
Got up last night, came into the living room, looked at the Wii, there was the SD card on top of it. Guess dad managed to get it out without a hitch. (He did take it apart to get it out, though. Only what needed to come apart, of course)
Yeh, label damage, although I ran through the game earlier and it seemed to work fine. Didn't sound like something was knocked loose either.
The SD, let me be more specific. SD adapter for MicroSD cards. Reason I said my DS was unusuable earlier is that I use the same MicroSD for both systems. Don't know the state of the adapter itself (likely fine, if not I have one(1) spare), but the Micro SD, just checked it in my DS, it read fine.

So problem solved, don't do shit in the dark. You will want to put your thing into one hole and instead you put it in another.

This is true for CDs but not for DVDs, where the data is sandwiched in the middle or blu ray where the data is actually just beneath the reflective side. Wii games I believe are DVDs.

Yeah, I remember reading that... somewhere... but it was filed away in unconscious memory.

Seriously though how did you manage to push it in that far, that tight, before realizing something was wrong...
