Last I checked, wasn't FFXIII supposed to be a massive number of games, each different than the last? Or did that idea get scrapped without my knowing?

I haven't played a Final Fantasy game all the way through, continuously, since VIII. IX was ok but I stopped after a while and then eventually finished it. My wife bought XII for me some long time ago when I had a PS2 still. I played it for about 2-3 hours total and called it quits. I haven't even tried XIII. Square is a little full of itself, if you ask me. They're putting out mediocre console games with good graphics and trying to get in to the mobile app world with iOS games that are overpriced. Some are ok, but $9 for a tower defense game, glorified chess game, or released FFI and FFII? Luckily I got some on sale before I discovered Installious for jailbroken iPhones.

Interest in FFXIII-2? Is it possible to be less than 0 for this?

I was one who disliked them pretty much starting with X. I didn't even care for FFVII's slow degradation into angstville. So naturall, FFXIII-2 is sort of like "Game I don't like: The sequel!" which... isn't gonna get much like from me, yeah.

I personally regard Final Fantasy 9 as the last proper Final Fantasy.

X was okay, but after that jeesh.

Trying to get away from levels was stupid. Thats the core principle of any RPG. And then limiting you to controlling 1 character for XIII? Fail.

I disagree. I find Morrowind, among other games, far better when the level system is creatively removed.

Now, the actual execution of the idea may have left something to be desired. But levels are not as all-important as some people believe them to be.

I'm mostly a fan of the old-school FFs, although the only Sony-era FF I've played was FF9, so I can't judge them all from that one (I didn't like FF9).

FF2 got away from the leveling system just fine with each stat upgrading actively based on what you did. While it's not one of my favorites in the series, it certainly is one of the better games IMO.

Didn't like FF8 very much... I'd have to say my favorites are FF7 and FF6, definitely

Wasn't a big fan of FF12 and haven't even played FF13 yet... but FF10 is definitely the last good FF game for me

I feel like if I had a PS3 I'd give FF13 a rent because frankly there are times when I play games where I enjoy just sitting back and listening to a story unfold. Knowing nothing about FF13 I'm assuming it falls smack in the middle of JRPG everything territory but whatever, sometimes that's what I feel like getting.

I agree with this. They should make a sequel for TWEWY, and make it good. And on the DS.

From what I have heard, FF13 have more in common with a movie then with a game! :specialed:

From what I hear, you'll hate one half and maybe like the other. Which half depends on what you like.

Square Enix should just stop with the Final Fantasy.
They're better as a publishing company, in my opinion.

Square should lay off the sequels. Period. Its because of stuff like the Final Fantasy series that I finally understood Masahiro Sakurai's complaint about the industry's passion for sequelization. I honestly never considered it such an alarming problem until I stopped to look at Square's library. I thought Nintendo went a little crazy some times with sequels and remakes, but uh...wow.

Sequels in the final fantasy series is a bit... different though. Seeing as most new game future a new cast, world, combat and leveling system.

However... they have made way to many remakes and shit... and the quality on the main series have gone downhill lately. :/

The other problem is... well...

They seem to mutate their past works into new stuff, which sort of loses the point. Like, I liked original FFVII, but the goodness fades away with every new horrible 'revelation' that contradicts the initial game.

Like Sephiroth no longer being solely responsible for his madness, and Cloud being more and more a tool of fate and less really much of a self-controlled person.
