Machi-Machi v. Kyan!
I'm at my computer tech job right now and we still build up DOS 6.22 systems.

So, no.

Now it's almost dead, sure, but not quite. DOS/Win9x is still very much alive.

UltraSurf (Look it up!) is amazing! It certainly is a great program based proxy that works fast and amazingly! I am at that school with the terrible lockdown, and three of us are using it now and watching YouTube videos. This program is a Godsend for us people with internet censorship.

VB6, huh?

When I left my high school in 2005, their programming classes were still QBasic and Turbo Pascal (you know, the one from the 70s or whatever).

Edit: OK, it's from 1981.

My high school used Delphi for computer classes... why not C++? C++ is the best programming language ever, really...

The Computer Science course I have this semester still uses VB6. We make the most pointless programs like "make a program that could predict the average of 4 numbers". I'm the smartest person in the class (believe it or not ) so half the class I'm flooded with questions like "why doesn't my command button work" or "how do I change the caption of the label"

I guess I got the lucky pick of the Comp Sci classes, as far as what languages are being taught. Mine is teaching Java, and we'll be doing some C++ as we go along. We'll also be screwing around with VB 4th quarter, making it a bit of a break. So, yay variety of languages!

My high school's single programming course used VB6.

My CS class this semester uses Java, but we also spent a week learning the basics of how assembly works (which I found surprisingly more fun than I expected). Next semester is C++, I think, and I don't really know what's beyond that...

A lot of people don't like Microsoft things just because they're Microsoft.

Yeah, ASM is kinda fun...we're almost ready to learn it in a class, but it may be disrupted by the virus that recently deleted the hard drives of a lot of computers on campus. The school wants us all to reformat this week, even people who didn't get it, and we can never install software on school-issued computers again. The ASM simulator thingy we use doesn't come with the machine, so we can't use it! (I assume teachers can make exceptions for their classes for specific programs...)

.Net, thus, fail.

Posting from Computer Science class

Next year we're going to be doing Java so hopefully that will be better. VB6 is quite easy and gets really repeative (especially since at the end of each unit we have to do around 10 review projects based on things we did through out the unit). Hopefully your class gets a bit better but by the sound of it it won't
