Coincidentally, Resident Evil 4 (which I'm still currently replaying) was one of the three best games I played in 2010 that I had never played before (the other two were Lemmings & Oh No! More Lemmings and Crash Bandicoot).

The first time I started RE4, I fumbled around so much that when I got to the Village Chief boss, I had hardly any ammo or healing items left and had to restart from the beginning. But, it didn't take very long to get back up to him and I did a much better job on the second attempt and was finally able to beat him.

The thing I liked about RE4, and the only other RE game I ever beat, RE0, is that they both have harder difficulty settings that really force you to know the game well to win. So there's a easier mode for those who don't want to play something insanely difficult, but it's there for those who do and you don't have to worry about imposing your own limitations, the hard mode will do that for you.

Hum. I never played that game before, actually... I should try it sometime; I hear it's quite good.

I do highly recommend it, but I do warn that it's rather easy. I know someone who loves challenging games who went to play it and I kept telling him that it probably wasn't the best choice for him because he might find it too easy, but he ended up liking it anyway.

I have a (nearly) complete shrine for it, if you're interested

Heh, weird. Seems like everyone's been replaying that game of late. Seriously, I love it. I picked it up cheap a while back, because I'd heard good things about it, but it wasn't until quite a bit later that I actually tried it... and once I did, I was hooked. I actually find it somewhat odd that the major bosses (Mendez, Salazar, Saddler) aren't that tough, yet the incidental ones (Del Lago, Gigantes, U3) can be major pains in the ass.

That said, I never actually tried Hard Mode, because there's nothing to unlock. I may mess around with it someday and see how far I can get, but I'm in no rush. Heck, the Mercenaries minigame is hard enough... I managed to unlock the four extra characters, but getting the Handcannon? Ah... err... probably not anytime soon.

That's no big deal; a game's difficulty only has so much effect on my enjoyment. If it's well-made -- and more importantly, *fun* -- I don't care if it's easy. In fact, I'd prefer that to ass-grindingly difficult.

And yeah, I've seen your page. I forget how I found it originally (TV Tropes? I dunno), but I've had it bookmarked since before TCRF was up, so... yeah, it was a while ago. But I liked what was there (and I noticed you added some of the stuff I found in Knights of Justice to its shrine, and even creditted me... how nice. ), and I check it every now and then for new stuffs.

I also looked over that shrine a while back... very concise. I'll definitely use that as a guide when I play through the game.

I unlocked the four characters in Mercenaries and haven't played it since. Getting the handcannon is way too OCD for me.

No kidding, especially when you take into account how the other bonus weapons (Infinite Rocket Launcher and Chicago Typewriter) are both easier to unlock, and just as overpowered...

What's easy for one person won't be easy for the other; especially if they're new/unfamiliar with video games or that specific genre. I've seen people fail horrifically at Pac-Man, for instance.

True, that. I have a friend who's absolutely awful at sidescrolling action games... yet he's god-like when it comes to turn-based strategy games (Advance Wars, in particular). I find that genre rather hard, yet I'm fairly good at platformers... heh.

Best was when Google put up the Pac-Man game and people in the office tried to play it with... varying degrees of success.

Me: "...don't eat those (ghosts)."
