He added: "We just can't continue to have this kind of carnage on school campuses and against public officials."


So far it's extremely unclear whether or not Giffords is dead or undergoing surgery - there are several conflicting reports that are changing constantly. The last I heard, MSNBC and the BBC both changed their reports from "shot dead" to "shot", while a Tucson radio station is saying that she died in hospital.

Something particularly of interest is that Gabrielle Giffords was one of the representatives targeted by Sarah Palin's Take Back the 20 initiative:
On March 23, when Obamacare was signed into law, I launched my “Take back the 20” campaign, focusing on 20 congressional districts that John McCain and I carried in 2008 which are or were represented by members of Congress who voted in favor of Obamacare. They need to be held accountable for those votes. They voted for Obamacare. Now we can vote against them. We need to replace them with representatives who will respect the will of the people.

Yes, those are crosshairs on that map. I'm not trying to accuse anyone of being responsible for this incident, especially this early after the fact, but it's a pretty damning coincidence all the same. (After the story of Giffords' shooting broke, the Take Back the 20 website was down within minutes, not surprisingly.)

At this point I think it'd be more beneficial if the country just split up and in 20 years see how each side is faring. Because if these people are so apeshit bananas about wanting a country to be run their way, then to just GTFO to some group of states and secede. Good riddance.

Of course then again I'm kinda grumpy so whatever works works. I'm not in the mood for Civil War 2: This Time It's Not Civil War 1.

This is what happens when "2nd Amendment remedies" are advocated so much; stupid. Had that man figured to simply campaign for the person he wanted, no one would have to die and he could help 'take it back' the legit way.

Yes. He's more or less just crazy.

His stuff is all over the place... though on the same page, causes me to wonder what role the media may have had on influencing his insanity, especially with his ranting about the Gold Standard and such.

The problem is that this is a perfectly good moment to address why implied violence is not a good thing to use in campaigns, but instead will get into mudslinging and conspiracy theories. But then again, that's what the good ol' media is for: muddling the truth.
