That is indeed a legitimate question, in a few U.S. states, the age of consent is actually below 18, too. And some other countries have even lower ages of consent, like Japan at ... 13?

I read that in Russia and Japan, the age used to be 9 until they bumped it up.

Germany, otherwise known for its insanely strict laws, has the age of consent at 14.

The result is obvious: many teenagers who are just 14 or 15 and already have a child, and will likely get two or even three children until they get to the legal age.

That's really not exclusive to Germany, we get tons of teen pregnancies here, too. I don't think that age of consent has stopped anyone from having sex ... ...

That was the case in the Thumb, too. I remember being in the high school office for whatever reason and seeing a girl I remembered from middle school, with a baby already.

The Thumb of Michigan is also notorious for use of narcotics. People will start on pot at like 11. No joke.

Yeah, the legality of boning at a certain age... is completely irrelevant to people in that age group. If kids want to fuck around together they're gonna fuck around. Interestingly, in a study that surprises no one but puritan dipshits, it was concluded that teaching of sex ed corresponds with a lower teen pregnancy rate. Hmm!

That's pretty much how it is, but the backwards logic of the USA is to make it forbidden and special, so that even more kids have even more kids of their own.

Then they get to be on MTV, glamorizing it and making even more kids want to do it. Gee, this plan works well at preventing teen pregnancies!

And there haven't been any slower days, either. I know Anya has been busy writing and working. I raid Tuesday through Thursday in WoW so I basically don't post much at all those nights. Did a lot of cleaning after we ended the raids at 8:30.

This week I cleaned the room, did the laundry, vacuumed, rearranged our room, cleaned the bathroom, and cleaned my sons room. It was all necessary because we don't keep them all that clean to begin with. Trying to keep a child's toys from being scattered everywhere is like trying to fight a raging volcano. It just keeps flowing out and theres nothing you can do to stop it.

I'm pretty sure I'll disappear almost completely next week when I have to do a ton of trips to the bank in two days and then leave to Washington and come back the day before classes start

This semester will be particularly stressful, but I might end up with 24 credits in the end so I'll put a lot of effort into it. I don't think I'll be very active until the semester's over

I've actually heard that a study is saying kids who watch 16 and Pregnant were LESS likely to get teen pregnant themselves versus the peers that don't because it showed the real life consequences of having a child while that young.

Eh, whatever works for the masses, I guess. Though sex ed really needs to be taught to a much wider extent than now if any serious dent is to be made in this issue.

And hey, you don't need sex. Just your hands.

Also, they really need to emphasize safe sex, not abstinence. A lot of teens will have sex anyway and they won't know how to do it safely.

I guess if they watch it and see the inevitable "Boyfriend leaves" "Girl's life is wrecked" part of it they'd get the point, but some idiots I've encountered might take it the other way around. "I can do better than those people!"

In any case, they do need more comprehensive and less abstinence-based sex ed around, because telling people to be inhuman robots doesn't work, it just ensures when they do it it will be unsafe.
