Well anyway:

BREAKING NEWS: Nintendo 3DS Smuggled off Chinese Assembly Line
Someone has a Nintendo 3DS. Who is that someone? Well it’s apparently a Chinese factory worker who smuggled the device off-site. Problem is, he posted it on a forum, but the thread was deleted. Probably because it’s like, illegal. I’d venture to guess the device itself was being produced for one of the upcoming events like Nintendo World 2011 or the Nintendo 3DS Preview Event. Only question is, will the factory worker risk being found out and continue to leak details?

Personally, it looks like a dev model to me. Wish the guy turned it on.
Also, if you look in the video there is someone displaying the 3DS and someone holding the camera with 2 hands (seen in the reflection). My guess is that this was sold quickly.


It also could easily be a big publicity stunt from Nintendo.

Well, technically, it "worked". It did power on and display information on the screen.

Judging by one of the pictures at that link, it looks like it's running with a very simple test firmware. It offers options with different button combinations, but I can't see them very well since there's a light reflecting off the bottom screen.
