This notice is from the Jul Home Owners Association. Please remember to have all Christmas and holiday decorations removed by January 5th.

*oh yeah, and HOAs really suck anyway*

Do HOAs do anything but suck and fine people?

Also, screw that. Santa hats are warm and it's cold out.

Lol, sometimes some of my neighbors leave the decorations up till Father's Day.

And they're still up, here...

I remember my parents leaving a wreath up outside until March one year. Then, they bought a little Christmas house in July and kepy it up from then until Christmas

My dad loves Christmas, though, so with him around, don't be surprised if Christmas pops up at random times.

HOAs are those organizations that restrict what you can do with your house so that they all look the same and the neighbourhood looks boring, right? Like in those McMansion developments

Free Ikachan! Santa hats are not a crime!

Our decorations are still up... I mean, there's still snow on the ground covering the power cables and such, so it would be a huge pain to take them down...

Ack, I hate those! If I already bought the house, why must I be regulated on the way I decorate it??

I hate bland neighborhoods where every house looks identical to the next one.

Cold and snowing now!

And yes, HOAs harass mortgage or rent paying citizens for no good reason at all. But that goes without being said.

I generally prefer older parts of cities, like where I live now. No HOAs, each house looks different and interesting and unique

Also, the street layouts make sense, unlike with those snaky McMansion developments where all the traffic is funnelled onto a 2-lane road and then people wonder why traffic is such a bitch.

If you're going to the older parts of cities and the street layouts make sense, the city is not old enough.

Yeah, Seattle isn't very old, especially compared to Boston

Not sure when exactly grid layouts became popular. Old European cities are really confusing too, though

I've never seen a European city before, although Old San Juan pretty much looks like how the Spain left it.

Caguas was pretty crazy from what I remember of it. Aguas Buenas was up in the mountains so its understandable that the grid isn't perfect. Humacao was one of the most organized cities that I remember from when we lived in Puerto Rico. Definitely no HOAs there, houses we're all colors of the rainbow. I'm not kidding when I say there were pink, lime green, and baby blue houses on our street.

Yes, some of our older towns can be pretty colorful. (Old San Juan)

The town nearest to me is also somewhat colorful, but it's also much dirtier and has more of a ghost town feel to it.

Humacao is one of the newer towns and these are just normal houses there. Ours was a standard off-white, yellowish, color. Just think of what an HOA would do to you if you painted your house hot pink or purple one day? You'd make national news headlines, lol.

My parents' house is painted orange and cream. Whereas my sister's house is painted completely in pink.

Back in West Chester, every (or almost every) house was made of bricks so the houses were all reddish

My parents' house is red with blue trim. No HOA out in Redneckistan, I guess

It's also had so many additions that it has a really bizarre shape and roof. I think it's had 4 additions through the years.

I remember seeing on television, there was a special on a ruined Roman colony in Tunisia, and it was laid out in a grid pattern... so it seems like people have been using them for awhile.
