I hated FieryIce after FieryIce killed my mother. =(
Also, this is the first time in well over a month I have not ranked. Cool! I'm back to apathy!

As a chemist I can tell you that just comes naturally with familiarity and experience.

Man, that movie was good when i was a kid, but when I went back and watched it again, I was disappointing.
The animated series was awesome, though! |

Why is it that there is so much in this thread.
I had to learn the periodic table in 11th grade but the teacher tested us in 5 different quizzes, one for different parts of it. (ie, we weren't tested for all of it at once) |

The thing was kind of a running joke in the JCS thread last month
My teachers generally let us use a periodic table on tests and such. Those of you who had to memorize it only had to know like the name and symbol, right? Not, say, the atomic mass?
Yeah, just the name and symbol in my case anyway... and I think possibly the number as well, though I didn't do too well on that part... But not the atomic mass.

We had to learn the name, symbol and atomic number. But that wasn't too hard considering the way I was tested. |

I remember an early science class (6th grade) in which we did stuff with the periodic table. He gave us a few silly mnemonics:
"Hey you (Au), don't steal my gold!"
"I see you (Cu) copper!"
Also, we spelled words with element symbols, and once he went around the room and everyone had to come up with a symbol of their own. You couldn't use a symbol already in the periodic table or a symbol anyone else used so far, but he actually let us use 3 letters We had to specify every time that only the first letter was uppercase though, as in "Capital H, i".
He did fun stuff sometimes, but he also tended to be an ass. Maybe he just didn't like me ____________________

We are given a periodic table to use whenever we want, so no studying that
Speaking of which, I have a chemistry exam to hand in for homework tomorrow. Better get started

It was homework for over the Christmas holidays. And I'm a procrastinator. Of course I'm going to leave it until the last minute.
Sometimes literally.

| I don't think I've ever had that ... some teachers once gave me projects at the beginning of class that were supposed to be handed in by May but that's it ... |

It's normal.
It's necessary too. I have Biology and Physics exams coming up on the 11th of the month, so Christmas revision and homework is necessary. Plus, Chemistry is a huge subject and difficult to get your head around, so revision and homework is necessary there too. Same for Ethics.

Don't you hate when teachers do that? Is that common in the UK? Because I don't remember having had that here.
Of course, most US colleges and universities will have a break between semesters/trimesters/quarters over the winter holidays
Yeah, that's how it seems to work for me... even if there are multi-semester classes I don't have any assigned work.
(Though of course I should probably still study things... )
