It's worse at school when you're carrying a sandwich in one hand, while trying to walk up a steep, muddy grass bank while avoiding whatever the local morons are throwing at you. All the while trying to get that straw in JUST the right position.

I'd generally botch it, then move the hole to avoid further shenanigans. Often I'd make my own hole somewhere else to avoid that mess.

I also used to explode ketchup packets by trying to open them with my teeth. So very dumb.

I remember the issue being more often that it wouldn't go through at all...

Haven't had a Capri Sun in ages though... it's one of those things that I get surprised when I see one, because I associate them so much with a summer camp I went to for awhile that it doesn't make sense that they could exist outside of it.

I always accidentally broke the straw somehow...

I tried to go back and have another Capri-Sun recently, and discovered to my horror that it was far to sweet for my taste! It was rather depressing, but nothing will ever spoil the good times I had when I was a kid, getting hopped up on those things and creating terror around my neighborhood. Ah, memories...

I stopped drinking them after the occasional tendency of finding out about a hole before opening it and after it's already gone way sour because of air exposure.

I never had any problems with these. At all. People used to ask me to put the straws in for them all the time because of it.
