You'd be surprised how often giving something a good smack gets it working... not sure how that works, but I've seen it more than a few times. (Don't try it on things with moving parts mind you...

) When I was a child we had this big old CRT, which interestingly was old enough not to have a remote control, yet had an LED display and number pad for channel selection. One day the pad wouldn't work right... we'd enter the two digits and it'd swap them around.

I don't remember why we didn't just enter it backward (I think we tried that and that somehow didn't work either) and I really can't imagine what kind of glitch caused that... but we just gave it a good smack and it started working again.
My grandfather has a similar TV, which someone left a very large, strong magnet on top of for a while. It has some colour distortion as a result... the strange thing is the magnet is still there, because if you remove it, the distortion gets
worse...
(And just about any time my Nintendo consoles wouldn't start up, I'd give them a good smack and they'd work again... makes me glad we went with Nintendo; I may well have destroyed a few Playstations if we'd had them back then.

)
Then again, I've been known to have a "magic touch"... not uncommon that I just touch or even stand near something and it magically stops - or
starts - working. I managed to jam an EEG machine without even trying... soon as they put it on my head it just shut right down and wouldn't come back on. Who knows... (It did start up again after a few minutes.) Fixed someone's doorbell one halloween just by pushing the button; apparently it hadn't worked in years, and I just came along and pushed it and hey, it works again!
There was also the days I walked home every night, and every streetlight would go out when I walked under it and come back on when I was far enough away. You could see as I walked, it was like the darkness hopped from one light to the next to follow me... this happened most nights for as long as I lived there...
(and now I'm way off topic!

)
