Actually, I tend to say "soft drink" in more formal contexts, or online (unless I'm teasing Anya)

My family, being from Michigan, always said "pop", but I also knew the word "soda" from living in New Jersey for a few years.

Case in point: Hot dogs. Ugh I can't stand the things unless they're grilled, and yet my mother tries to push them on me. Whereas pizza... I know it's usually just one bad day.
