You don't have to use Pcmanfm, if you don't want. Nautilus will work just fine on LXDE.

WHAT THE HELL?

(This seems to be a hibernation issue where things seem to go garbled like this, but this is the first time where my desktop got affected. The occurrence of these garbled graphics seems to coincide with the fact that I've also been gently lifting the computer up on its back feet and gently lower it onto the floor to get it to stop my power fan whining for the millionth time. RELATED? Sure sounds like it. )

tl;dr: Alert dad to 1000001st instant of fan whining, explain that a new power supply/fan is due soon due to how it seems to be doing this over a longer period of time now (a week versus a day or two)

I'm kinda surprised you aren't using Spaces... I pretty much have to have it enabled when I'm using OS X, or I feel cramped for some reason.

(Plus, it made taking screenshots easier. )

Eh, I've never really used virtual desktops unless screen real estate is at a premium. At 1920x1080 it's not much of an issue; on OS X especially, Exposé mitigates some of the need anyway.

Also I really wish I could assign names to the spaces, at least, instead of just using a number.
