and it takes a giant greasy shit on my bars. Huge padding bloat around bookmarks, giant bubbly popup garbage, tabs can no longer be placed below bookmarks on the top bar (Holy fuck this is stupid), and even more fucking suck.

Opera, I love your browsers internals. I love everything you stand for and what you're doing. However, the UI is fucking important to your userbase, and why the hell is it still the same Opera 9 customization shit where you can't move a fucking bar without doing secret bar replacement tricks?

I'm downgrading as soon as I get an official response from the desktop team telling me they won't fix it.

Paulguy's Post configuration
To be honest, I quite like Opera, since at one time it was the fastest browser on here. Now it's the slowest browser on here, because of my video driver. Now it has no benefit to me, so I probably won't be using Opera 11.

I like that Opera is around as an alternative, but they really need to do better to let the user specify what they want, rather than have them specify how a browser interface should rigidly be, like Mac OS. I mostly just used it for the performance, because to be quite honest, the rest of it I am not too crazy about. The interface is rigid and not very customizable. A lot of things are in weird places or disorganized.. I don't want to say cluttered because I fucking hate UI minimalism, but sometimes things can be a bit unwieldy.

Turns out they removed the personal bar in the settings but it's still "technically" there.

Super dumb.

Also, that "sidebar" in the mails and feeds views. It can no longer be disabled. WHY?

But why would you ever want to do that? Then it wouldn't look like Chrome!

Opera's UI is one of the main reasons I don't use it.

The Chrome envy is just spreading all over the place... One of the reasons I'm really dreading Firefox 4, I was hoping Opera might be an alternative but I guess not, if this is their UI route...

I'm using Firefox 4.

You can reactivate all the bars and undo the Chrome envy without much trouble.

Also, there is a version of Flash for x64 windows now.

So I'm rockin' the x64 Firefox 4 with Flash. Whoo!

Paulguy's Post configuration
Flash 10.2 beta in Linux has an x86-64 build. It's more stable for me than 10.1 x86.

I already had an existing profile for Firefox, so it seems to have just taken to that. I actually forgot they had changed the defaults to make it Chromey.

Also, anyone using Firefox 3.6 in Linux and having problems with animated gifs, you'll need to install a Firefox 4 beta (Minefield). Some other package I think is too new and doesn't work correctly with older Firefoxes. I heard it was Cairo, but I don't know much about what it uses for doing gifs or graphics.

To be honest, since switching back to Firefox, it seems pretty alright. I switched to Opera because at the time, Firefox kinda chugged for me, but now it seems to work smoothly, and the interface can be adjusted and decluttered to the extent I want. It's just not fancy or skinned as extensively as the others, but I also prefer more or less native controls in programs, to be honest, rather than skinned controls and no option to use native ones.
