Actually, that's the weird part.
That specific set of strings works in a weird way... The 4s on the left tell you which row (a, ka, sa, ta, na, ha, ma, ya, ra, wa), and the number tells you which vowel sound (a, i, u, e, o).

I think they used "wa" the kana as opposed to "wa" the particle to make it clearer for anyone crazy enough to decode these.

This was weird because "jiyu" makes no sense, but as jutsu, it made... a lot more. Also:

Also, this follows the regular ไบ”ๅ้Ÿณ, so it would be easy and logical for a Japanese person to decode it that way.

Figures, it runs down the left side. Clever.

I'm guessing the rest of that string is just random gibberish? (The ending is odd, though. It doesn't seem like it's entirely random like the other one.)

You forgot the translation, even if it is somewhat obvious what the end result will be.

The translation of that, you mean? It's..

Cursed Watering Can
In order to remove the curse,
unequip the cursed item 10 times at the church.

Does that make sense?

Actually, yes. Danke.

That answers that question, then. I thinkt hat's everything, unless someone suddenly comes up with some explanation for all the random stuff.

It looks like either a mistake or a red herring. The only thing that is obviously intentional is the ใฏใฏใฏใฏ ("hahahaha") at the end.
