I gave a rough translation of 6 in the other topic.

8: 4th Year 4th [day of the month] 4 o'clock [am/pm] 44 mins.
9: 4th [day of the month] 4 o'clock [am/pm] 44 mins.
10: 4 o'clock [am/pm] 44 mins.

Presumably those are the times when the messages occurr?
What do you expect for 8? Somebody is obsessed with fours.

Yeah, these happen when you check at the PM times I think.

str10.txt "4 hours 44 minutes"
str9.txt "4 days 4 hours 44 minutes"
str7.txt "4 years 4 days 4 hours 44 minutes"

The fourth and second messages are the most interesting given they are actual long messages. (And the fourth ends with a "hahahaha")

I wonder what does happen if you check it at 4:44am of the 4th day of the 4th year if str7.txt is the pm message then.

str1.txt contains the number 4 a bunch, as well as curses and evil and death and misfortune. Most of it is self-explanatory.

str5.txt is a bit different, but it still has curses and such.

I don't think I'll be able to make sense of the second or fourth messages, but I'm still going to try.

String #3 is pretty much exactly what I guessed it would be; a co-ordinate pair (number of 4s, digit).

Looking them up on the Hiragana table gives the correct message, which seems to be related to the Cursed Hoe, so I think we've figured out the theme, here.

Considering how glitchy and half-assed this games was (at least, the very original Mineral Town, I haven't played the 400 other incarnations), I'm actually quite surprised they managed to have functioning hidden content like this. Pretty interesting stuff...

The first line isn't copied correctly. It says:
のろわれたおの のろいとくには 255かいつかう

The rest looks like gibberish to me, even reading the original.

I could of sworn that the game ended up buggy because the translators tried to rip the Easter egg out, but it caused a ton of problems?

Now I'll have to try and dig where I found that.

There's a glitch where the priest starts speaking in German. Suggesting there is possibly a feature to change dialog into different languages. Unlikely but Natsume could have translated it from Japanese to German and then English and forgot to translate that specific piece of dialog.

Wouldn't surprise me in the least if it was the translators' faults, as many of the glitches were text related in the first place, not to mention countless typos (which even HM64 had a few, okay, but this game took it to another level )...interesting that you mentioned this actually

You have the first line reversed there:

きょうかいの のろわれた
どうぐを はずす
じゅかいくれ

To lift the curse of the cursed hoe,
miss/remove the church's cursed tool then times

I think he misread う for つ in the last line while he put that down. Also, maybe it was fashionable to write わ instead of は in line two...

Also, this follows the regular 五十音, so it would be easy and logical for a Japanese person to decode it that way.

Edit: Seems like we're only missing the watering can.

はずす should be translated "unequip" as that's what it means in this context. =) I agree with the rest of your conclusions.
