18 seconds ago I realized that people stopped making number puns and started just putting numbers into random sentences.

Symbolism: According to R. Allendy, "it associates the idea of the cosmic differentiation, 20, with that of providence or the Karma, 6, and with that to the liberation of the nirvana, 2 + 6 = 8". It would represent also the individual initiative in the fight against the sin.

Bible: It is the number of generation from David to Christ according to the evangelist Luke and also the number of generations between Moses and Adam. The genealogy of Sem comprises twenty-six descendants.

In the Psalms, the God of Israel promises to the nations the iron rods and in chapter XXVI of the Leviticus, an avalanche of curse is pronounced against his people among which "a sky of iron". The atomic number of iron is 26.

General: Jesus was 26 years old when his adoptive father Joseph died, according to visions of Mary Agreda.

According to the Talmud, the Torah would have been revealed to Israel to the 26th generation of the history of the world, that is to say starting from Adam. It is Moses who, to the 26th generation of the world, receives the Torah transmitted by God.

The 26 ganglions of the sympathetic system of the human bodies.

The 26 letters of the Latin alphabet.

Anniversary of marriage: weddings of opal.

Gematria: Numerical value of the name of God in Hebrew formed of the Hebraic letters yod, he, waw and he, YHWH, 10+5+6+5=26. This name of 4 letters giving 26 is found in the 4th chapter of the Genesis with its 26 verses, beginning with Adam and ending by the name of God.

By using as correspondence table A=1, B=2, ..., Z=26, we find that the name of God in English, GOD, gives 26.

Occurrence: The number 26 is used only once in the Bible.

The Gospel of Luke uses on the whole 26 different numbers, which are numbers 1 to 3, 5 to 12, 15, 18, 30, 40, 50, 60, 72, 80, 84, 99, 100, 500, 5000, 10000 and 20000.

The number 18 is used 26 times in the Bible.

The word "Beloved", representing the Lord, appears 26 times in the Song of Songs. The words prescription and baptism are used 26 times in the Bible. The word "merciful" is used 26 times in the NRSV.

I saw a Vietnamese code page with well over 100 special letters in it.

That's probably because the standard code page already has most of the Vietnamese characters already, similar to how there's a few Arabic etc ones if you go through a basic font like Times New Roman in char mapper.

edit: also the Google Translate beat boxer made my life

What exactly is "pho" again? Maine isn't a very multicultural place most of the time.

I swear I saw a restaurant around here called Pho Shizzle. There are also other less obvious puns as well (such as naming jokes only Vietnamese people would understand)...I recall a friend telling me there was one restaurant whose name roughly translated to "No Name"

It's a noodle soup, pictured here.

The word phở is more or less pronounced "fuh". There's a phở place over in Bellevue called "What The Phở" I imagine "Phở King" and "Phở Q" could be names for phở restaurants.

There was also an IRC Script named "Nonamescript" so it seems at least two things have that generic name, just in different languages.

I really love clever restaurant name puns like that. Then again, it's just the English person in me.

I think there's a restaurant in NYC called "Wok This Way". Confirm? Deny?
