Considering this game got terrific reviews from every Japanese magazine, it's time to start the hype train. Recently, one of the designers said they wanted to make it feel like the roots, so they summed it up as "recreating the original Zelda except without the same levels". Comes out on Monday to stores.

This game is going to rock, but thankfully the designers commented on that playing Windwaker is not a requirement at all and any references are subtle. Thank the Gods, I still haven't played through that.

I'm interested to see how the touch controls do. The boomerang controls I read about (mapping its course with the stylus) sounds damn awesome to me...

Meh the game play was not really that fun. You had to go into one dungeon each time you get a new item.... and every thing you have done in it goes poff when you leave it. I could not get the story, playing the Japanese version.. But I don't play zelda games for the story.
So no properly not even putting this on my flash card.

Umm... Knowing what's going on is a very important part of every Zelda but the first. Even in that one, having an idea what people are saying helps.

The game looks interesting. I noticed the strategy guide is already out for some reason, though...

Third party startegy guides usually come out earlier than the games themselves. Unfortunately, some pricks will buy the guides ahead of the games and post the ending spoilers online. This happened with Metroid Prime 3 on NSider I heard. Someone spoiled the whole game for the people there.

I conveniently forgot to look at the thread or even the Metroid board, and will not do so until I beat MP3 on my own. (Yes I realize NSider is gone for now but that's not my point.)

Game is still not dumped. This is madness! Not really.

Anyways, according to many Japanese players, the game seriously is barely a sequel to Windwaker and is more of a brand new game just borrowing the art style.

Barely a sequel? Sequel is absolute, you can't have "barely" a sequel.

That said, there's no way you'll need to have played TWW to play this. But you should.

I hate this game.

Let's make a huge intro you can't skip without pushing the (seemingly useless everywhere else) start button. Okay. Make sure you can't just speed it up, either, so it's really slow. No need to leave behind the "special" ones.

Don't forget to make it really annoying, too. Oh, and gimmicky. Touch to move! Do something to roll! Slash to ... slash!

Oh, and don't let you pass the intro without getting a lesson in swordplay. haha, no, that'd be too easy. Make sure to have a fedex quest early on. "No, you can't go there! Go see this guy! No, the bridge is gone, go north! No, go see him now! No, go get the sword! No, he saw us and is now giving us a long annoying lesson!"


I miss the old games.

Wow Xkeeper, way to go. You seem to forget that every Zelda game from Link's Awakening on helped you out in the beginning. Sure it was shorter, but seriously, it took me FIVE minutes to get my sword and move on. The game gets amazing after that, I'm on my way to the second dungeon as we speak ^^

It's a gigantic fucking gimmick (HERE USE THE TOUCH SCREEN FOR EVERYTHING).

And yes, I know it helped you out in the beginning. "Here, get sword, here's a quick hint as to next dungeon". This .... no.

No. The life draining thing is ONE part of the game. Don't worry about it. Basically there is a central temple that throughout the game you progress through and it takes a toll on you unless you have time in your hourglass. You only progress through the central temple when you are going to the next temple however, as you must go deeper and deeper into the temple each time in order to get further information on where to journey to next.
