Thanks, it seems to have fixed it.
I really should start with the basic solutions first

So, I managed to work around the #texture issue, but now after I added a bunch of coins in Toadstool the level itself won't load once I pick a star. I tried removing the coins but despite that it still won't load. Any ideas?

Check that the Empty Objects aren't covering the spawn point. Apparently, even if the Empty Objects have no act selected, having many of them in one place will cause the game to crash. That MAY solve the problem.

So, yeah, don't mess with the Koopa behaviors, they'll wreck your entire level. Simply changing it won't fix it, you have to start from scratch.

Edit: Uhh, I guess it's fine, I hodge podged it (something tells me that's a british term. basically i bullshitted it )
Edit: jk figured that one out too

Ok, but does anyone know of any good recording software? My computer lags the hell out when I use Camstudio...

Download http://sites.google.com/site/messiaen64/level-importer/ObjExporter.rb?attredirects=0&d=1

That is the fixed version of the obj importer so it correctly uses textures. Make sure you make the textures the ones dumped from Rice video plugin or frauber's pack of them or Toad tools 64.

Any idea on where some SM64 models are located? Is there a program like OOT's ZRE?

Assuming you're using an imported model, you need to apply a snow texture to the faces in your 3D modelling program.

If you're on about replacing a texture in an existing level, you can't, unless you overwrite it in Toad's Tool, which I wouldn't recommend.

..? I'm using Toad's Tool and I barely know how to use it... I have no clue what you are talking about. Can you give me a more detailed tutorial since I am new? Or a less complicated one? :/

That depends. Are you trying to edit a level that YOU have made in a 3D modeller like Blender or Sketchup, or are you trying to change a level that was in Super Mario 64?

I'm trying to change the land out side of the castle that is in Super Mario 64. No Blender or anything, not that advanced.

Ok. Open your ROM in TT64. On the top most bar, click on the tab that says "Edit Textures". On the side bar, there will be a button named "Export All To Folder". Click it. A dialog box may come up. Just click OK. A progress bar will appear at the bottom. When it is done, check your TT64 directory. You should have a new folder called Textures. Make a back-up of this folder somewhere else, incase you want to undo your changes. Back in TT64, find and click on the texture you want to change. On the sidebar, click Import from PNG. Find the texture that you want to replace it with. That should do it.

Ok, well how do I insert objects into the level...

Like say I want blocks in the level but they're not there, how would I go about doing that?

You'd need to change a pre-existing object. For example, in the courtyard, you could change a butterfly to a block.

Ok, I have another question.

How do you change the name of a mission? Like, the first mission in Bomb-Omb battle field, how do you change the name? Also, how do you change any text in the game, like the stuff Peach and the Bomb-Omb's say?

You need to download Text Wrangler, on the same website as TT64. Open the ROM in Text Wrangler, find the text you want to edit, edit it, then save.

Whenever I import a level, it keeps coming out like this:

http://img521.imageshack.us/img521/9062/snap0000.jpg

I've tried changing model offset X,Y and Z values, and change scaling. No matter how high the numbers, the level continues to be at the very bottom and doesn't appear to move or be affected at all my the numbers I put in. By the time Mario lands the camera moves away and won't let me see down there. What can I do so I can actually land on the level at the proper height?
