Sheesh, is there anything they won't consider a bomb at this rate?

Next up, my eraser! Is it a bomb too!?

Yeaaah. They will call anything suspiciously placed in public a bomb now. Funny thing is they usually cause more harm than anything too. Scaring citizens and sometimes damaging property to 'take care of the bomb'.

There's also the issue with lithium batteries (such as laptop batteries, watch batteries, and camera batteries)... people are panicky about them too. I mean, if the batteries haven't been abused, there's almost no risk of them exploding on the plane

It's interesting that the toy robot was cemented. I think that's probably what made it suspicious. If it hadn't been, people might have dismissed it. The question is... why?

One time, I accidentally left a bag unattended at a foreign airport, and my family was asked by the airport security to not do that again in any airport in any country EVER.

Let's go back to the late 80's-1990's and forget that the 21st century ever happened for the sake of our gaming, music, and reasonably sane technology. I would buy a new Famicom, Virtual Boy, Super Nintendo or Game Boy/Colour game if Nintendo started production again. Star Fox 2 would be great.

Yeah, that causes a mess, though perhaps less inexplicable than the toy robot.

I'm willing to bet within the next year that people themselves are going to be assumed to be bombs.

I'm not talking about suicide bombers or anything. I mean, actually mistaking other people as bombs. And if it happens, I'm going to laugh. Uncontrollably.

Probably in Boston... the winter gets cold enough that people will be wrapped up in large piles of coats and hats and such clothing, combine that with a particularly paranoid view of security *cough*lite brites*cough* I suppose can only lead to one conclusion: is that really a person sitting on that park bench? ARE YOU SURE?!?

Oh, I really wish I would have kept the paper/recorded the news about a local incident similar to this about two months ago. Somebody was on a local highway and pulled to its side, pretty dangerous area to do so, and started taking pictures of cars driving by him. Odd thing to do, but apparently he's a photographer or something and wanted some, "in the moment pics." I dunno, but basically some cop driving by saw him pointing his camera at traffic, thought his camera was a gun, and pulled over and tackled the guy destroying his camera in the process.

Not as extreme as a bomb squad type thing, but the cop said he wanted to close down the highway, so this made me think of that.

I know about Boston, I live in Maine.

It gets way colder up here. If you wanna find people bundled up as "bombs", then you can find them up here. Especially the tourist folk who aren't used to our cold winters. :p

is it weird if I actually felt kind of bad for the robot?
