Yeah, I was talking to a British friend of mine over voice chat and I noticed him saying "Zed" instead of "Zee". I learned something new today!

In first grade, I had a substitute from Canada, and she pointed out that Z can be zed or zee. Before that, I just knew about zee.

The first time I heard about the zed thing, it sounded so ridiculous to me that I thought it was a lie... It still confuses me how that could have come about. (or come 'aboot'?)

I think "zed" is a way cooler name. Of course, I've been saying "zee" for so long and Americans might get confused about "zed".

Sorry, vinnyboiler, but Orlandu already made that joke

I know that at one time, his minipic was that SMB2US smiley face. Not sure what it was before then.

Now all we need is LR and SELSTART (since mini pics probably wouldn't display full SELECT easily..)

I watched American shows and still heard the word "Zedd" many times.

The Romans called it "zeta", after the Greek letter that it was borrowed from. This became "zed" in English, and later "zee" became kind of a slang name for the letter, which later caught on as standard in the USA.

Möchtest du Wörterbücher für Frühstück, Kassad?

(Note to people who don't speak German: that sentence doesn't make a lot of sense)

(Note to people who speak German: I probably screwed up the grammar anyway)

Über

Yeah, when I see band names like "Motörhead" I tend to want to pronounce the ö in the German style.
