Naturally, but post count doesn't decrease.

I'll probably fall back to a lower amount when I get this semester out of the way... the huge activity spike has kept my mind off of things and actually kept me from panic, a few times.

Let's go back to the late 80's-1990's and forget that the 21st century ever happened for the sake of our gaming, music, and reasonably sane technology. I would buy a new Famicom, Virtual Boy, Super Nintendo or Game Boy/Colour game if Nintendo started production again. Star Fox 2 would be great.

Of course.

Some boards actually decrement your post count if you delete a post, but AcmlmBoard doesn't

On an old board, I used to sync post counts with the actual number of posts that are still present every once in a while... but now I'm not one to do such a thing.

Was that an AcmlmBoard, Kerli? Because if so, you'd get weird post numbers.

I do remember an AcmlmBoard that wouldn't give you a post toward your count for a new thread, only for a reply. That bug was fixed, though.

VBulletin and pHpBB both decrease your post counts upon deletion.

I remember that earlier versions of AcmlmBoard used to give post count not only in terms of the post count number, but also in terms of how many posts were actually registered in the database. That was removed at some point, though...

Yep, I remember that too.

The counts could be wildly different for users who had a lot of posts lost during the mysterious deletions in 2001.

I'm always confused when the replies counter starts at 1 instead of 0 on some forum systems... I've become practically used to it starting at 0 and representing replies rather than starting at 1 and counting the first post in the thread. (GameFAQs used to be like that years ago, IIRC...)

Also the sidebar being above each post instead of to the left. At one time, vBulletins used a more typical layout, then they switched to the weird sideways one.

Oh, and stuff like "Posted 2 Months Ago" is so vague. Sometimes it's useful to know, for instance, if two posts came in at around the same instant.

Well, the sidebar being above the post makes some sense on mobile browsers, I guess, since phones are often a portrait orientation... but that's no reason to impose that sort of thing on everyone.

And I definitely agree with you about the vague posting times...

I think most boards that do that report the 1 as Posts, instead of Replies.

I tend not to think too much about it, but boards with ads between posts throw me off (and tend to push me away from the board anyway).
