Yeah, but who has more than 24 hard drives hooked up to a normal (read: not workstation/server/etc.) PC?

On my first PC, it was a standard setup; A for 3.5" drive, B for 5.25" drive.

It doesn't need to be physical hard drives - you could simply split up a drive into 22 partitions (plus two floppy disk drives) and you'd face the same problem.

Or just hook up one or two multi-card readers. The one in my PC adds like, 5-7 potential drives to it.

But it's an A in a circle... not a D...

Again though... who needs 22 partitions? Most I go up to is I because of 2 CD drives and 2 virtual drives; I is assigned to my iPod or any USB device.

I'm posting from an airplane! Whee... the inflight wi-fi works surprisingly well, though I suppose I'd better not try to use IRC over it...

Cool!

I wasn't able to get a signal on Amtrak. How does inflight Internet work, exactly? Does it connect to ground towers wirelessly? What if you fly over an ocean?

I'm not sure on the details... if I remember right it uses special dedicated ground towers with upwards facing antennas, and then a device on the plane connects to those and creates a Wi-Fi network, basically how the airplane telephones used to work.

I haven't been able to get signals on Amtrak either... it's a shame, I really prefer the train to the plane, and if I had the internet the length wouldn't seem so bad.

Yeah, trains are awesome Also, no security pat-downs and liquid bans and such.

Too bad Amtrak's service is rather spotty. German trains were nice, and I wish we had trains like that in the USA.

I do most of my traveling in the Northeast area, so the train is less patchy here than it is in the rest of the country, at least... I took the train to get back home, actually, just taking a plane because I have to be able to get to classes tomorrow morning so I can't spend a day...

VIA has very nice first-class service here. I really need to find an excuse to head to Ontario one day so I can take VIA One... free food and drinks. A little pricey but sometimes seat sales can cut the cost in half.

...Wait, wireless internet on a plane?

Whatever happened to "no devices out?" Then again, last time I flew was in 1999... and I don't know if I'd be so happy doing so now.

You only have to follow the "no devices" rule during take-off and landing... other than that it's allowed, since they realized they can get a revenue stream from that... But Google is paying for it during the holidays as a promotion for Chrome.

I've landed now, though...

I remember it being advised against the whole flight, back when I took mine... either that, or my mother was paranoid.

HOLY FUCK I KEEP POSTING BEFORE I'M DONE

I've posted here from Windows 95 on a Pentium 200 before

I use it a lot to play games, etc., too... when DOSBox just won't do.

I've got XP, Vista and Windows 7 on my separate machines. I don't think I have anything older.

I wouldn't mind putting Windows 98SE as well as having Windows 7 here. I just wish I knew how to do it, but I guess that's what Google is for.

When I first joined I1 I was running Windows 98SE (I think) on a Pentium 200... That computer still exists, though I have no idea if it works.
