I was just reading around the wiki in the FFVI article, and I was at the part about unused rooms. The first gibberish rooms looks a lot like the room Locke's old love is housed in the the world of ruin. Dunno if it was noticed before, so I thought I'd throw a word out just in case not.

The Colossus enemy entry also makes me think perhaps he was meant to be an enemy you run away from, if his HP isn't some fluke. Countering the techniques and targeting, high HP--makes me think of "oh shit get away" like some Final Fantasy battles throughout the series.

Unfortunately, ever since the move the wiki won't let me log in anymore, so I have to post this somewhere here...

Just a thought on the unused Anna sprites in Final Fantasy IV - If they're only loaded with the final boss sprites, that's probably because she may have been planned to be one of the people who shows up during the "prayer" sequence to give power back to the team. Yeah, she was dead, but so was Tellah and he showed up.

Eh? Did you forget your password, by chance? I can reset it for you (though I should probably look into enabling the email features; they were turned off initially).

Hm.

It doesn't seem to be accepting what I have written down, unless I wrote it down wrong. I tried to register a new name several times, but it just keeps telling me I have to wait.

If you want to reset it and email me the new password at fo@flyingomelette.com, that would be great.

Never mind. I finally got in.

Actually, I made a slight mistake there (which I should correct). Those sprites aren't actually loaded in the *final* battle, but rather, the automated battle where FuSoYa and Golbez fight Zemus. No other character sprites are loaded in that sequence, so it just makes it all the weirder. Also, Anna's palette isn't loaded in that fight; I had to manually load the palette from the fight in Kaipo where she appears. It's possible her sprites are stored with Golbez's, since neither character has a full set of battle animations.

Oh, and as an aside to the original poster... almost all the "unused rooms" I had on the FF6 page at one point turned out to just be glitched maps using the wrong tilesets. Mind, I could never find any actual matches for the "jar room" and the large glitchy desert map, but I suspect it's the same deal with those, as well.

That's what does it. Observe (ripped from the ROM):

The same thing happens when you use a PAR to hack one of your characters into Golbez in standard play (to replace slot 0, use 7E10010F for non-Easy Type (J) version, or 7E20010F for the US version).

Only extremely tenuously related, but that new bit about Karn in Breath of Fire explains why he looked grey to me in Breath of Fire 2.

Yeah, I was gonna mention that in the article, but couldn't think of how to word it, so I ended up leaving it out.

I can't believe I forgot about the whole Karn thing, actually.

Personally, I like the U.S. look a lot better. Not for the sake of cultural acceptance, but it just looks like he has a huge-ass mouth in the Japanese version or something.

He looks like a Zombie in the Japanese version.
