I have to say that even as a "hardcore Microsoft fanboy", this did NOT impress me. The textures, lighting, particle effects, model quality, and such were decent enough.

But... Maybe it was due to the 1080p LCD I played it on, I dunno. It just had more jaggies at the edges of polygons than I've ever seen in my some 15 years of gaming experience. YEOW!

I'm going to try the game on this standard 480i analog CRT here before deciding if I want it. Only tried single player, felt extemely similar to Halo 2 gameplay-wise.

Update: Tested on the above older TV. Interesting outcome. I confirmed beyond any doubt that Halo 3 does in fact have better graphics in standard definition!

Ha! Halo is teh buggy tonight!! And I know its not my connection b/c I contacted two of my fellow co-workers who are also playing Halo 3, and they cannot get into a match either. Within 15 minutes, I got into one match (Odd Ball). I've had two matches where it would load, but then I'm the only one on the map and I end up winning. Freaky.

I kinda liked the 2nd one.
And I FELT IN LOVE WITH THE 3rd!!
Yes, Halo 3 is THAT good. It's like the 1st one, but with a damn insane multiplayer. I loved it.

I actually sat down and played the game.

It... urgh, feels like Halo 2 all over again, where its good, but not something to recommend people if they want an excellent shooter game.

I was playing Normal and died consistently on certain parts of certain levels for stupid reasons. Level one, for instance, there is a bridge that you go under. I sniped enemies crossing then went down and as I turned the corner a freaking ship starts firing at me and I dodge that to see an explosion kill me without warning. No enemies behind me, but there was a Brute way out there that I couldn't see because I'm more worried about the cruiser. Ok, next time I just go kill the brute. FUCK DAMMIT A GRUNT HIT ME FROM BEHIND! I could understand if it was consistantely dieing for the same reasons like starting a checkpoint with low ammo or soemthing, but not because I can't see what is going on, and rocks and plants in the way is really screwing with me as well as a radar that doesn't do anything when the Grunts understand not to move.

Levels are also a bit meh. Nothing too extraordinary.

Overall, its best seen as a multiplayer only game if that, considering the single player is worthless if you want a good story (LOL RANDOM WARP OF NEW ENEMIES NEW STORY TWIST) and its a bit eh.

Its alright, but really way too overated for what it delivers.
