Normally, I'd say "I have GitarooMan, but that was reprinted/released somewhat-recently..."

But then me, Supa, and Rick went to Video Games NY, and I bought an unusually-heavy genesis game for $10. It's the final version of Chelnov/Atomic Runner, but on EPROMs... so, pseudo-proto? D:

Possible that it could be a review copy as well... or a weird proto. But it would probably fetch more than $10 I think.

I've got a copy of FF3 SNES that I bought for about $30 when it normally sells for between $60-$100+. That's probably the rarest.

In terms of "hard to find at stores anymore" Tales of the Abyss for PS2 was a tough one. We had to drive 20 miles south to find it and only after some searching.

Holographic Majora's Mask?

I have a copy of the Saturn version of SotN, that might be my rarest game... it's not that rare, though.

I also have a Sega CDX, which is kind of uncommon... got it for free, even.

This is something that I've been debating with myself for quite a while, I really don't know what my rarest game is as I don't have anything super rare (I think, I haven't checked the value of absolutely everything I have) although I do have quite a few items which I believe are quite hard to find and could fetch a few dollars.

In no particular order:

-Gold Cartridge version of LoZ: Ocarina of Time
-Non 3D label version of of LoZ: Majora's Mask
-Grey Cartridge version of of Zelda II: Link's Adventure
-Vulture Culture for Atari 2600
-5 Boxed Game & Watches
-Tengen Teris for NES
-32 sealed SNES games (even though none of them are any good )
-Pirate Famicom cartridge of SMB2J

Probably a whole bunch of other things that I'm forgetting about at the moment...

Wait, what? The grey version is rarer?

...

In that case, I may want to take extra-special care of my sealed copy...
Te Gold carts were the original print, while the Grey carts are the classic series print, the same deal with the two Metroid variants. There was a bigger more extravagant classic series in Europe where Nintendo made a more fatiful Arcade port of Mario Bros. for the NES, having a label resembling the Atari 2600 port of Mario Bros. I'm still looking for these games.

And I also have a loose Tengen Tetris for the NES. guess I should also post *some* of my other rare games (it would take to long to post them all :p) you can see my tz game collection for a complete list of all the rare games that I own.

Action 52 (loose, excellent condition; NES rare black PCB version with all games working, crashing issues fixed, but Star Eveil still gives a pink screen on Level 4... Only bough this to test my Game Genie codes.)

SNES Burn-in Test Cart (Excellent condition aside from the the fingernail mark put on the label from the guy who dumped it (I'm now glad that money order for shipping got lost in the mail)

I only have two games which could be considered slightly 'rare', but can be gotten off eBay and similar pages easily:

- Tactics Ogre JP for SFC. Runs perfectly on my PAL SNES, using an Action Replay I.
By the way, the sound is a LOT better on this system than in the later PS1 port. The latter should only be played if gotten cheap, or you cannot read Japanese (or at least Katakana), but the loading times and butchered music suck.
- Rudora no Hihou, again for SFC. Also works, but I need to replace the save battery, still too lazy and lacking the proper equipment to do this

Both games are not that expensive, I think you could get each one for maybe 20-40 dollars.

I never understood how unopened copies of games end up existing... (beyond like, unsold copies) just never got around to opening it?

Some people just recognize the collector's value, I guess.

What I need to get sometime is ClayFighter 63 1/3 - Sculptor's Cut. It's one of the rarest released N64 games because it was originally a Blockbuster Video rental exclusive.

Honestly, I don't have anything stonkingly rare lying around. I don't buy games to collect simply because I'd prefer to spend the money on games I'd play.

I sold off a lot of my old stuff when I was younger to buy new consoles/games and the like so it got turned over. The rarest thing I probably have is the Ocarina of Time/Master's Quest GC disc. Then again, I also have a copy of the Japanese version of Advance Wars: Dual Strike. It never got a second run because the original run of AWDS in Japan sold less than 15,000 copies :|

I do have an original Tyrian CD though, back from when it was a new game :o

Panzer Dragoon Saga (Sega Saturn). It's rare, but not too much more costly.

I have a factory sealed F-Zero (SNES), but I'll probably want to play it at some point so I also have Tokimeki Memorial for the SNES, box and instructions etc still intact. Its of course been opened...and used for horrible psychological warfare

I don't own anything particularly rare, but I have a few that are somewhat hard to find and/or a bit pricey:

EarthBound - I also have the guide that came with it.
Final Fantasy VII - It's the original edition with the black label.
Ogre Battle 64 - Nothing special about this one, though.

I also have a copy of Mother 3 that came with the Mother 3 Deluxe Box, which is worth about a couple-hundred dollars last time I checked, but I think the game itself is indistinguishable from any other copy. As such, the things that came with it, namely a limited edition Game Boy Micro and a Franklin Badge, are far more rare than the actual game.

Oh hey, I completely forgot I had a copy of Final Fantasy VII. Yeah, that's pretty worthwhile, despite the fact it is just the discs. :/

I also have a factory sealed Space Invaders for the SNES, which I'm never opening. I have a CIB Doboutso no Mori e+ and the E-reader+ itself, Animal Forest N64 CIB, a Pro Action Replay MK3, and Nekketsu Beach Volleyball opened, which is very rare. And today, after checking the mail, I have a complete Famicom Gimmick in perfect condition. I do have other rare games too.

Probably the games I own for the Odyssey2.
I also own Zelda 1 and 2 gold and grey versions for the NES, and the Famicom versions.
I have the Ocarina of Time and Master Quest GameCube version sealed.

Other than that, I'm not sure how rare some of my games are.
