I've created a new website, called Crossover. It's going to be a sprite comic with characters from multiple games. This is my first SERIOUS (i.e. one that has a storyline) attempt at a comic.

At the moment, there are no comics. First, I want to get your opinions on the front page. It's a bit cluttered, but I don't have the HTML knowledge to get it to fit correctly. For instance, I want the Twitter bit to be next to the comic, but it automatically jumps underneath. Ignore the joke for now, that's all placeholder until I get an actual comic up. However, I won't be doing comics until I get the website sorted out. Also, the web address won't be permanent; I'll be buying a domain.

Any criticism is welcome

First thing I notice is your little navbar thing. You really need to set the text colors on that, it looks terrible.

Second thing I notice is you didn't even use a <html> tag. It's probably no big deal, but it still surprised me.

I'm going to replace the text with buttons, as soon as I can remember what I clicked on in Dreamweaver.

And yeah, I deleted all of the code after I came up with the bad idea of stealing someone elses source code. That's why they aren't there.

Ok. I've replaced the text with rollover buttons. A friend of mine helped me with the HTML and improved it. I've changed the layout of the site so that the Twitter doesn't dominate over the top. Everything is centralised and I believe I'm ready to start working on the comics, then the rest of the site

So, the comic seems pretty interesting so far, even after two comics.
One thing about the website though, is that it might be good to have arrows for going through the comics on the main page, rather than having to head to the archives to go backwards and forwards.

Nice. Consider adding an outline around the computer text, as the green is a bit hard to pick out.

You may also want to alter your panel borders a bit, the small 1px red line looks off.

Don't be afraid of using thicker borders, and bright white, or dark black.

Also, consider using LARGER AND TWISTED FONTS for your sound effects. Look at wendsday's girl genius as an example.

Also, consider the character and write out who your Sambus is.

Can't wait for your next comic!

Comic 5: Problems


The comic is smaller because I found a website that is full of backgrounds from 8-bit to 32-bit. However, the backgrounds they rip are smaller than the backgrounds I rip. For sake of ease, I've shrank the comic. I've also changed the borders to white, as requested

WHat program do you use to make these? If so, you should be able to resize the backgrounds and sprites easy.

As a rule of thumb, for sprite stuff, I tend to go 2x on sprites and backgrounds, if the sprites are large enough though, I leave them the same size, and just 2x the background.

Paint.NET. Increasing the size of the sprites means less room for text. But, I think it looks ok

I've been far too busy with college and other side projects, so Crossover has been getting neglected. However, I'm on Christmas Break from December 17th to January 4th, so I should hopefully be able to catch up

Finally, an update! Only a few... months... after I said I would.

Sorry for the long wait. College took over and I haven't had much time to do this. I promise semi-regular updates now! I've also changed the size of the comic again. This just makes it easier for me to create.
