The most interesting thing about that zone is actually the camera change spot that zooms out to show the planet. (Which is something just looking at the models together wouldn't have seen.) Thank you for doing the video.


If only there was a way to look inside the objects themselves and figure out what the code meant, in terms of what parameters do what and what model/animation is called and when. Who knows what we'd find?

So I just went through all the zones in SMG2. Out of them, it seems only two of them are unused. They were very organized this time.



EarthenPipeRoomEZone is one of the variations of the bonus room. All this one has are three item blocks. It wasn't referenced by any galaxy.

StaffUnbabaHomePlanetZone is a copy of the final planet zone in Melty Monster Galaxy, with a very similar name. As far as I can tell, it lacks the special effects of the other one, and in fact lacks everything but the planets themselves.



It would be neat if someone could verify these, but they aren't worthy of a video.

Crate: It is used in that section in Cloudy Court where you have to use a Cloud Flower to go upwards.

Also, I remember seeing a video on Youtube somtime in 2008/2009, that was called something like "SMG Concept Art", or something like that. I think it was removed by user or due to violation in late 2009/early 2010.

Well Nintendo has hidden alot of stuff in the game, just because the models are replaced don't mean that traces of previous data in the files aren't left in the coding. Knowing that, this thread may die out soon as beta info will be harder to find and nobody are expecting anyone to do anything

This thread has been receiving minimal activity for months now, so the only way it can go is up.


Anyway, I plan to systematically go through all of SMG2's models over Christmas break (starting on my birthday), so I'll post any discoveries I make then. In the meantime, we can try and get cracking at either the sound effects or sequences and see if we can find any goodies. I'm sure someone has figured out at least one of those by now.


Also, that tree is different from the one in SMG2.

I am 50% sure that little or no beta discoveries involving SMG2 will be found. It is possible that leftovers from previous Main Series games such as SMG1 or NSMBW will be found, since a lot of stuff like Lumas, Black Holes, the Koopalings' Cake, and Checkpoint Flags from to previous games are used.

I guess I could be completely wrong, but you just never know.
Also, I thought Puzzle Plank was "Cut Timber", not "Home Store".
Another thing is that on Mario Wiki's SMG2/Beta Elements, it used to have a Media Summit pic of the "Yoshi Star Get", with a caption that says "The usused scenerary that was supposed to appear in Yoshi Star Galaxy." I eventually removed that from Mario Wiki, because the scenerary does appear in my game. I think that the user who put that down had a different version of the game than me. I thought I would this with you guys, because you guys could just check this to see if I'm right or wrong.

You mean the Fizzlits? I think the blob was supposed to trap in Mario (since it is made of birdlime), or could have acted like a Swoopin' Stu or the Mocina.

Could it be a remainder of Sky Island Galaxy's (the former Blue Grass Galaxy) Sky Fleet Ship in the E3 '09 version? I also noticed that if you point P1's Star Cursor at Sky Station's logo, then in the "world map's galaxy selection stats", you can see the Starting Planet, along with the Sky Fleet Ship in the background. The Sky Fleet Ship is seen at angle which is never seen on any part of the Starting Planet in any mission.

Found another minor boss-related thing. Thanks to a typo, King Lakitu (BossJugem) has an extra unused animation.

This is an earlier animation for getting stunned by Star Bits. He jumps a little and his glasses seem to disappear inside his head. He checks his face for them, and returns to his normal waiting pose. You can tell it's from earlier in development, because he doesn't move his mouth at all.



Also, as a bit of trivia, King Lakitu will fall asleep if you leave the arena and stay out of it for a while. He wakes up when you return.

Another discovery, albeit small. Yoshi has two animations with names including the words "E3Wait". I think he may have the E3 hatch-from-egg animation as well but I'm not positive.

Another small discovery. Melty Molten Galaxy's sky, VRSandwichSun, is left untouched in the game.


Oh, and Sky Station Galaxy's main Sky Fleet planet has a full rod modeled out for the propeller which extends halfway through the inside of the structure, with a semi-detailed end.

Also, does anyone know the name of this planet in the SMG1 ISO?



I'm the leader of a Super Mario Galaxy 2 hack and we're planning to have the peewee piranha boss fight on the gateway planet... but the Super Mario Galaxy ISO is kind of a mess and I can't find the .arc for the planet. Thanks for any help.

Fortunately for you, I have every model in SMG1 catalogued and organized. The planet is heavensdoormysteriousplanet, with related props being heavensdoorhousedoor and heavensdoorflowera. The tower that appears is heavensdoorappearstepa/after. If by chance you also wanted the fake version of this planet, it's scaledownrelayplanet.


Also, I asked skawo to make a video of the mysterious beta Starman enemies. Unfortunately, their damage level .brk files don't work, but we can at least see what their model looks like in action. Not sure how long it will be until the videos are ready.
