I hate the term "vintage" like it's any different than current generation games. Also, I hope they have regular non-3D mode as well with Super Game Boy support... that would be nice.

I'm happy but also a little annoyed. The virtual console thing was cool for the Wii and all, but I really just think having one for the handheld games is a bit much. More of an excuse not to give attention to older series like the SML games or Wario Lands of old (this coming form a guy whose favorite console was probably the Game Boy in the first place ;x) Though if this spark a re-release of VB Wario Land proper, I'm all for it

Only thing I'm worried about is the price. If you go to any Game Stop ever that...still actually carries used Game Boy/GBA games? I've seen Kid Icarus going for as low as $1...not to mention many other great games for under $9. You know they are going to steep the prices up, ESPECIALLY with the "3D features" added to these games...sigh. Still, its something to look forward to I guess.

Link's Awakening is one of those games I just can't keep a working copy of, so I'll be getting this when I get a 3DS.

Oracle of Seasons too, please! Both carts died on me with no discernible reason...

Edit: Keitaro, how often can you find any decent games there? Local Gamestop here barely has any GB/GBC games left, and they're all shitty. I'd have to go another 30 miles to buy something decent (maybe), or order it and pay more anyway due to shipping & handling, for a used game that may not work much longer anyway, considering how my luck with GB games was.

So yeah.

I'll go with this.

I'm aware its much harder to find them now, but my point still stands. I mean even getting them online, unless its like mint in the box you aren't really going to spend too much money (and that's for a physical cart you actually own, you know how Nintendo is so far as your rights to stuff you've downloaded ) ... I mean none the less its not like I won't be giving this a spin myself. ;x

I'm curious as to what the "3d mode" would entail... I mean, especially with LA, it seems like if you start making changes for say, the wider screen resolution you're quickly going to have to redo a lot of the game.

It could be interesting enough, I suppose... I haven't been able to find my Game Boy in awhile, but as I do have those games and I think they still work it'd be hard for me to justify buying them again...

It doesn't specifically state that LA is one of the 3D games. Considering the game is mostly top-down, I can't imagine what kind of depth you'd really get from it anyway.

If I remember correctly, the 3D versions of games won't be the same as the VC, and won't be limited to GB games. I believe they mentioned Yoshi's Island () was one of the 3D-added games shown.



And you can bet I'll buy Metroid II if they have it.

...Um, that's a typo, right?

Some games would benefit more from a 3D effect than others... and don't forget, it would solely be an effect. You can always adjust/eliminate it with the slider.

Nope. It isn't a typo.

I extrapolate from data I've seen elsewhere and speedruns, but I haven't played it. In general there are many 'must play' games I've never touched, because their features wound up being put in every game after them.
