Uh, what? He said he's "madly hyped" for the game to come out, but is using history as a basis to say that the game probably won't be very good. It's like having high expectations for every core franchise release that Nintendo puts out. Nintendo consistently puts out good games. Sega consistently puts out... Shoddy Sonic titles. Isn't the definition of stupidity "Doing the same thing over and over again (Buying Sonic games) and expecting a different result? (A high quality game.)

That said, the game looks like Unleashed, but without any of the stuff that made me dislike Unleashed. Namely, Werehog, Boost/Obscenely fast gameplay, and the fact that the Wii version was a shitty port. The powerups don't really appeal to me, but whatever. Things like that don't truly matter, how the game feels and plays does. (Unless it's a game-ruining mechanic such as laws in FFTA2) I didn't really enjoy SatSR, Sword & the Magical Sword, nor Sonic Unleashed, but I'm going to play this anyways. (How is that being negatively biased towards the game? I'm not a gaming masochist.)

The trainer does show off the powers and how they can be used to explore the levels.

Also, score and not speed has a huge bearing on RANK this time.

And the few confirmed lines from the story I read has made me giggle.

Tell you why I'm exited about this game;

1) The wisps power ups actually look fun,
2) If the wisps dose spoil the game, (which I highly doubt) the are said to be avoidable,
3) The games are game-play based which only only adds to the experience,
4) It appears to stick to the fun fast-paced action that's come to be expected by Sonic,
5) The game looks graphically pleasing,
6) The game appears to not be story driven,
7, and most importantly) I love the Super Mario Galaxy series (I even have a Charles Martinet signed copy of Super Mario Galaxy 2) Sega says their game will appeal to the that kind of demographic

I'm NOT a Sonic fan, I grew up loving Mario and was too young to jump-shift to Sonic. Now I trying to really get in to Sonic and I feel that this is the game would be the one for me. Heck, Sega's even marketing the game in my direction this is the perfect time to jump shift.

Yes, but in this case blasting through the level will get you less than finding secrets.

Ok yay! I may be in the minority, but the main thing that made the old school sonics appealing to me was their music! That's also one of the main reasons why I'm not into much modern gaming, most of music either sucks or just doesn't have a distinct beat or melody. That song is awesome by modern game standards, and I love that it is heavier! Seriously, if the music is awesome in this game, the rest of it can completely suck and I'll still have a blast with it.

I'm not really feeling the whole 'colour' system at the moment, mainly because I'm not sure how core it will be to getting through levels. They seem quite linear, and from what I see immediately, the colours are part and parcel to progression. I'm hoping that SEGA put in alternate, non-colour routes to follow that offer the same pacing, but just rely on Sonic alone. Gives you that option to mix it up a bit.
