I'm going to do my adopted hometown, Sheffield- which has kept me for the last four years of university life. Reading doesn't have much to talk about, other than being biscuit town and giving the world Kate Winslet and Ricky Gervais. Here goes...

Sheffield is well known for two things-
steel and The Full Monty, set in Sheffield when the steel factories started to close:
The Full Monty

Famous Sheffield sons:
Michael Palin
Michael Palin, made famous by Monty Python's Flying Circus, the film A Fish Called Wanda and documentary Around the World in Eighty Days and Full Circle

Sean Bean, made famous by TV show Sharpe, film The Lord of the Rings and imortalised as Alec Trevelyan in the film and videogame Goldeneye. Big fan of the Blades (aka Sheffield United Football Club), whose ground is just five minutes walk from me

And for fans of the band Muse, you might recognise the sight of The Roxy, which still stands on Arundel Gate. The photo of this club was used for the album art of the band's album Origin of Symmetry:

The Roxy

My town seems to be the city where 90% of immigrants settle after they come to Canada. I also live fairly close to Toronto (but not it). I guess thats just about it .

My hometown is a tiny little town at the edge of Tampa, Florida. There's nothing really special about it. :<

I live in Citra, Florida, some place people haven't heard of. Its basically well known for its farms.

Across the street is a cow pasture, where I can moo at the cows and scare them off.

I doubt anything significant has come from here.

I like in Petaluma California. We were referenced in a Charlie Brown Comic once, when Snoopie was going to an arm wrestling tournament, that was to be held in Petaluma.

We've also appeared on Dateline NBC's To Catch a Predator!

It's not my hometown in the sense of being the place I was born and raised, it only is the hometown in the sense that it's where I currently live.

And the town is Bergen, Norway, located on the Norwegian west coast.

So, what's special about? Well, one thing you're bound to notice after staying here for a while (especially from october through... well, late february, early march, something like that) is rain, and lots of it. You're gonna need proper rain clothing and an umbrella.. no, fuck that, you're gonna need a small stock of umbrellas.

It is also somewhat known for the seven mountains that surrounds the main city area, and the town is marketed as the gateway to the Norwegian fjords...

Also, there's Bryggen (eng: The Warf), which is, as wikipedia says it "a series of Hanseatic commercial buildings lining the eastern side of the fjord coming into Bergen." Basically old wooden buildings that is constantly, but slowly, sinking into the sea. They're also on the UNESCO list for World cultural heritage sites.

Also, Bergen is also the place where the Fantoft Stave church were burnt down on 6th of July 1992.

As for what I would consider my actual hometown, that would be Sortland, Norway, which is located the third largest island (in Norway) in a group of islands called Vesterålen. The town itself isn't all that special.. except that it has been decided to paint all the buildings blue to attract tourists, and make the place seem more special.

The idea actually came from a local artist, Bjørn Elvenes, but he abandoned the idea, due to a feud between him and the town hall of which palette to use. It was eventually somewhat continued by the town hall people (or whatchamacallit! ) themselves, witht he result that only some buildings here and there are painted blue, and not the entire town, so it looks somewhat scattered.

It is also surrounde by lots of beatiful nature, and scenery. The town is mostly based on commercial activities, though, the region as a whole is based on fish and fishing industries and agriculture. And a little bit of tourism.

Rohnert Park... Um, sister city of some other city in Japan. That's all I know/remember.

You've forgotten/don't know where the movie "Cheaper by the Dozen" was filmed, it seems.

I live in Southwick, MA. Doesn't sound that great does it?
Well...We have a motocross track here in town. A real one. For real US Motocross Championships. I've been told by several people that it is considered as one of the hardest tracks and most favored by racers.
Here's and article about some race that occurred on it.
These races happen yearly and I hate them because the traffic becomes unbearable (Seriously, a normal 15 second drive will take anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes to get through). The roads aren't meant for tons of traffic around here.

The only thing special about Springfield, Ohio is that it was a candidate to become the Simpsons Springfield. Nothing more.

Westlake, OH was a little mostly rich suburb when I was there, and since I've left it's gotten more built up and stuck up. Wikipedia link

It's a suburb of Cleveland, which is a decent city to live by, if not in. You know, if you ignore the blizzards and river fires.

Where I live, it's not even a town. It's just a place. And yet, Fairfax Station, VA is supposedly listed as one top ten "best quality of life" places. It's pretty quiet here, nothing too much. We have a real good school system, which is why I'm writing an AP Gov essay right now...

We're also rich here. We're swimming in money. The houses across the main road out of my neighborhood are probably 1-2 million. It's crazy.

Other than being rich and educated, nothing much happens here. My neighborhood is filled with little children though. Not the little kids you could talk to or stuff but like 2-5 year old kids. So many of them...

My high school is also built upon the grounds of a prison. "The convicts used to be housed 500 feet that way."

You forgot that it is a place of heavy drinking (of at least) one person.

Actually, now that I think of it, my home is really close to MOSI and Busch Gardens, so that's fun. :3
