Haven't tried looking at them with any other styles (just tried viewing them while signed in and not), though.

Hello. I've been working on adding little icons to the BOB template to tell users whether the game has unused areas / music / etc. This also functions as a way to autocat those categories.

The current icons for music / no music.

Two questions present themselves:

1. Is this a good idea?
2. What icons would best represent the five categories for unused material?

The current greenish background is cool for a few pages,
and then it gets really old.

I like the idea, but I think that the "no music", "no graphics", etc., icons are unnecessary and may be confusing.

Which reminds me, would something like the concept art for New Super Mario Bros. Wii originally having an entire Airship world count?



Edit: On a side note, is there anything unused from Kirby's Dream Land? It's the first Kirby game ever, yet it doesn't have an article yet! For shame!

I suppose this question should probably be asked... might as well be asked by the village idiot. :|

I'll make it clear up front that I don't have any problems with any of the material on the wiki, but there are some things you know someone out there might have issues with, like the 'nude' Phantasy Star 4 enemies, or the swears in other games' content. Should there be some sort of disclaimer on the front page of the wiki, basically an 'enter at your own risk,' and that the content is presented exactly as it is in the games; we're not going to sanitize it, etc.?

Or maybe there should be a template that places a notice at the top of pages that need it, saying 'scroll down at your own risk.' Maybe one should be created for anti-spoiler purposes...

I'll hide from the pitchfork-wielding mob in my armored bunker, now.

I've looked through the game but I haven't found anything. Does the configuration mode count? You get the code for it after beating the game on Extra Mode but still.

Frankly, no. If people have issues with swearing, that's their problem. Especially since I know 8 year olds who know how to say shit in 3 different languages.

And really, it's pixelated boobage. I don't think anybody will care

still, a show/hide NSFW button could probably be used for at least the nudity, since pixelated or not, boobage is probably not something you want popping up at at work I suppose you could incorporate it for spoilers too but that's probably less of an issue since you should probably figure that by reading a Wiki covering game content that something is going to get spoiled for you anyway.

I *really* think it'd be best if we stuck with what content was actually *still in* games, rather than putting every early screenshot we can find on the page and declaring it "unused content". (Unless, of course, the screenshot actually shows some content that still exists in the game in some form.) That stuff is interesting, but the big issue is, can we *really* be sure that content was actually going to be *used* anywhere, or if it was just a mockup for magazines and whatnot? What makes TCRF special is that we're only documenting the cold hard facts; if we allow speculation based on very promo screenshots, it's just gonna end up a huge mess.

Plus, I forget who said it, but someone here once noted how irritating it is to visit a site that supposedly features "unused content", and see something listed as "Unused Levels!", only to find that it's nothing but a few scanned images of early promo screenshots in magazines... bleh.

Just my two cents, anyhow.

That makes sense. We'd probably have way to much extra stuff if we threw in everything that was even just thought up for the game. Still, I wish they had used that Airship world. It looked awesome.

There was actually going to be a special namespace (there may actually be one, not sure) for "media"*, specifically for that kind of thing -- so there'd be the main article, then all the "only in screenshots" shit could be there.

Screenshots in the main spaces are really just for stuff which is referenced in the game, like Link's Awakening's save file, which was used to take several development screenshots.

There's always the possibly of disabling images in the browser (I tend to do that at work ), then right-clicking to show any of them ... a large part of the wiki would be less convenient to read that way, though

URIs must be properly escaped, they must not contain unescaped
characters below U+0021 including the space character and not
above U+007E. Tidy escapes the URI for you as recommended by
