Just started the series from the beginning yesterday. Just thought I'd let you know.

I remember first watching this when I was 8 or 9 and everything sounded so cool. All the technical jargon and solutions they come up with. Now that I'm well versed in technology and know my transistors from my couplings, everything sounds so cheesey! Still a great show and I have my DVR set to record them all.

*Checks episode guide* wow, I never knew there were 7 seasons... They're airing 3 episodes a day starting at 4pm PST.

I got the first 2 seasons on DVD. I am planning to buy them all.

When I first started to watch the series, I never believed I could like it as much as The Next Generation.
I was wrong. It was awesome.

I used to watch Star Trek TNG, DS9 and VOY on Spike all the time. Then I learned how to download!

When I first saw Voyager, I had my doubts. I didn't think I would like it as much as TNG. To my surprise, my first time watching the series back to back, I actually enjoyed a lot of it more than TNG. Unfortunately, the more I watch it now, the less it holds up over multiple viewings. I'm just constantly reminded of everything they could have done, and should have done, but didn't.

Eventually I came to a conclusion similar to the majority of the Star Trek fanbase, that when you get down to it, Voyager is little more than wasted opportunities and Janeway/federation dogma. I feel that at least half of the characters are actually very interesting (such as 7, Tuvok and the Doctor), while others came off as predominantly bland and pointless when they could have been a whole lot more (Harry and Chakotay). The characters in general felt like a lot more should have been done with them. I like Tom and B'lanna for instance, but whenever they finally got an episode that focused on them, it was usually lackluster when it could have been so much more. The only one that I feel did them justice was Blood Fever.

I still think that on the whole Voyager is a decent TV series, but as a Trek series which is supposed to have far higher standards, Voyager fails and helped to doom the franchise. Watch DS9 if you want to see Star Trek at its height.

Very true. I was just thinking this today that now I'm tied to watching it on the TV any time I want to see it. I may get it through other means and put them on my iPhone to watch them anywhere.

Well, downloading is good, but I'm running out of space on my hard drive. Maybe I should get an external and put all movies and stuff there.

Oh yeah, an external hard drive is perfect for stuff like this. Especially since Terabyte drives seem to be the sweet spot right now in terms of best bang for your buck.

I thought Voyager was okay, but I don't really feel like watching most of the episodes, again. A little less on both counts with Enterprise (have to love thinly-disguised attempts at retconning )

The one I do want to watch most of all is, of course, Deep Space Nine. Except it's almost never shown on TV, so I'm probably going to have to buy all of the expensive box sets. A local station (the one on which TNG and DS9 originally aired on, in fact) seems to delight in suddenly running DS9 at an obscure time, without telling anyone, on Saturday or Sunday, for a week or two. Then, nothing. TNG, they'll promote left and right and run it almost every day (which they're doing). DS9? No.

(Oh, and they'll do the same for the edited TOS episodes, too. Can't forget that.)

Virgin 1 (or Channel One, as it is now called): Star Trek: Enterprise - 14:00, Star Trek: Voyager - 15:00, Star Trek: The Next Generation - 16:00, Monday to Friday. And I set them to record EVERY WEEK. For like, 5 years already.

Happily, when they finally get to the *cough*end*cough* of Enterprise, they put Deep Space Nine back on

TNG is good. It just started again yesterday because DS9 finished on Tuesday. DS9 is definitely the height of Star Trek. I love Voyager so much, but it's a bit slow for the first 2 seasons. And Enterprise is just... bleh. Especially when they reach the Xindi plotline.

EDIT: FTM, my dad is ordering all 3 seaons of Star Trek: TOS on Blu-Ray .

And, on October 16th, Star Trek Online is bringing out another set of Weekly Episodes which also coincides with Film4 showing the first 10 Star Trek movies.

*EPICNERDSQUEE*

EDIT: I also FTM, I was in Biology and two people sitting on the same table as me starting singing 'Star Trekkin''. I was never more happy.

This month seems to be very Star Trek oriented

I'll watch TNG and TOS if there's absolutely nothing else to watch, but that's mainly because I've seen almost all the episodes many, many times. :| DS9 doesn't rerun all that often...

I couldn't really get into Enterprise, no matter how many times I tried. Even the last two episodes.

Yeah every time I try to watch enterprise I just get bored to tears. I don't care about any of the characters, a lot of them seem like jerks, and everything moves so slow! Plus from what reviews I've heard about it, I'm not missing much.

Heh - I could miss a handful of episodes, return and not feel like I'd missed something.

I think in some cases, they were trying to run parallels with Voyager for aspects/plotlines of the characters. But, yeah, none of them really seemed to stand out, to me, or were mostly just template/cookie-cutter characters.
