Old-ish.

It's not really hijacking, but forcing it to use chrome to render.

Unfortunately, it probably doesn't work on Windows 98 or 2000; it could really come in handy on older OSes... =/

Opera 9.64 is still pretty good today for Windows 95 and Mac OS X Panther, for example... it's a shame there's no WebKit browser for Mac OS 9 or Windows 9x, too.

What's the purpose of this? So you can use Chrome while looking like you're using IE in an office that doesn't allow better browsers?

Anyway, um... big deal, I guess. It's basically a reverse [browser-that-uses-IE's-engine].

It's just controversial because it's Google... honestly, anything at all is better than IE's older engines.

Paulguy's Post configuration
Yeah, stuff like IETab is a lot more useful, since using IE should be the exception, not using Webkit or whatever other alternative being the exception, seeing as more modern sites work better on compliant browsers than at least older versions of IE, that this seems to target.

It's just better for the STANDARDS COMPLIANT option to be used for browsing everything except the sites that decide not to be compliant, but that's an argument for the other thread. :p

This would explain why GoogleCrashHandler keeps showing up.

It would've had to have been installed as an addon (check your plugins).

In any case, it may also be something different, like Google Toolbar if you have it installed.

What strikes me as absurd is, even after releasing their own browser, they're now doing something like this that will make people think using IE6 is OK.

Well that's interesting!

Too bad for Google, I don't use Internet Exploder.

You'll get people who are STILL too stubborn to upgrade, anyway...
