I'm trying to make translation/font for this game but I'm sort of confused. The Japanese characters on the memory viewer on my emulator but when I go to edit them in tilelayerpro, it doesn't show up at all.

Sorry if this is worded incorrectly, about to go to sleep.

Thanks,

your friendly neighborhood oaa

It looks like the bytes are misaligned. Simply shift the view byte by byte until it looks well.
It's like scrolling the tiles, but you are moving through individual bytes. Probably it's shift+arrow or in view or something like that.

If that doesn't work, it could also be that these tiles are stored in a different codec (Though that's very unlikely)

Edit: Actually, taking a closer look they are. I don't know if you can display stuff in different bits in TLP, but they are probably stored in 1bpp.

Goto view and change it to 1bpp. Use + and - to align stuff right.

cYa,

It's definitely this. I love TLP, and that is absolutely the fix.

First, use YY-CHR. Trust me, it's a lot better, and a lot less prone to the random bugs and other crap TLP does (not to mention supporting palettes far better)

Second, in YYCHR, use +/- to align by bytes. You can usually tell if you've got it mismatched because tiles will look chopped in half or otherwise.

FDS games may also use compression, since iirc they all use CHR-RAM instead of CHR-ROM (what with the whole not-cartridge thing).

Thanks guys.

Edit:

Don't want to bother with another topic: I made a table with Table Auto Generator but Translhexlation doesn't cooperate with me when I search something using a table. Anyone know what I should do?
