I was wondering, is there ever going to be support for the NARCs in D/P in NARC Explorer?

You can use the latest revision of NSMB Editor (you'll have to build it from source)
It has support for NitroFS and NARCs.
NARC Explorer is no longer beng updated.

Yeah, I just realised I have no idea how to compile those files, or even how to download them. Any chance of a download link that doesn't require me to know how to do all that compiling stuff?

Hmm... Probably not..
Here's how you compile it:
- Download and Install TortoiseSVN and Microsoft Visual C# 2010 Express Edition
- Go to any folder, right-click anywhere and select "Checkout".
- On the "sever url" (or similar) box enter: http://nsmb-editor.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/
- Click OK.
- Wait until it finishes downloading
- It should have created a folder named "nsmb-editor"
- Open it and double-click "nsmbe4.sln"
- It should open with Visual C#
- Click Run (The green triangle on the toolbar)
- It should compile it and run...
- Then NSMB Editor will open
- If you want to run it again, you dont need to open visual c# again. You have the compiled .exe on nsmb-editor/NSMBe4/bin/
Hope it helps...
Note: the reason i usually don't post compiled exe's is that most people can't undestand the difference between "final, stable" and "work-in-progress". They end up using the "latest" one, which is full of bugs. For example, on SVN right now the NARC stuff works perfectly but for example graphics editing is truly broken. Then people come back crying "i cant edit gfx! halp! i'm a n00b!"

I tried it, I compiled it, and it can't open Diamond.
I tried putting one of the NARCs from Diamond into NSMB, and it did no more than NARC Explorer did.
What am I doing wrong? |

Hmmmm...
What do you mean?
It can't open the ROM or the narc inside the ROM?
Note: you have to open the rom, go to file browser, find the narc and double-click it. You'll get another window with the narc contents. Closing it automatically inserts the NARC into the ROM.
If you are doing it right, then the Diamond narc's are different than nsmb's (i doubt it). I'll look into it then...

Dirb, the whole reason I can't use NARC explorer is because the NARCs are different. They don't have the nice contents bit at the beginning.
Can you fix it? |

There was a pack of dll files that were in a separate download on the site
and well, you need all of them to get it to load
they have to be placed in the the same folder as tahaxan's exe

Yeah..
Well... One of my goals is to turn NSMB Editor into some kind of generic "NDS Editor"...
For example, I made it able to insert ASM code into NSMB, so you could code your own cool things...
Then I made it able to insert code to any DS game. (they all load the code the same way so it was easy to do)
I could then make a silly ASM hack in MKDS: If you press B, you drift and get the blue and red sparks and go faster. Works both for WFC and DS2DS
I want to have it like that but also for file formats and such... But due to lack of time, i can't test out any single game so it's cool to have people tell you that there is a different NARC format in DS games...

It should be possible...
Those files are also named .narc, so their format is probably the same... They probably can't be opened because i made certain assumptions for the narc editor that were true for NSMB's narcs. For example, the order of stuff: First, the header, then the FAT, then the FNT, then the file data... The editor doesn't check stuff like that... Or maybe they have a new section, since you're saying they're used in D/P
And in case it's completely different (very unlikely) it might be possible to find documentation about them (like i did with NSMB's narcs)
This Wednesday i'll have time to look at it, probably... I'm quite busy with school, and Wednesdays we have courses only the morning, so it will be a good moment for it

| I think how it works is instead of having all the file names at the beginning, it has them just before the files instead. Not entirely sure, but it should give you something to go on. |

I've just checked it...
All the NARC's in that ROM have NO FILENAMES at all
I can make it so that you can still edit them, but you'll only see "file 0, file 1, file 2, etc..."
That's bad...
