I should find a way to put random messages here.
----------------------------
Last time I checked, it was non-existant.

Then I found this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uglRWwFCOLg

I searched but I can't find anything. At least in english.

I'm actually rather confused... Does anyone know about this? I mean, is there some ROM map or something somewhere lost around the internet?

Looking at the videos, it seems that the game has been extensivelly hacked... Maybe to the point that even a level editor could be made.

Actually I did link people to a video like this one but was more like an "auto" kirby level, on the smwcentral irc channel a few weaks back. But I was ignored. :/

But yeah. I guess you can PM the youtube user and ask him/her.

This isn't exactly new. See, Sukasa (?) released a decompresser called KompreSS. So there you go. Someone took it and actually tryed to edit things. Tada!

That link also holds another video.

I searched through all known newsposts and there is no source for the videos beyond their Japanese news posts.

Wait, so by released, you mean she actually released it to the public? Or do you mean something else. Because I just spent about an hour on google trying to find the decompressor.

If it's available, does anyone think I could have a link?

Two things- A, I'm a guy, and B, said decompressor is unavailable because last I checked acmlm.org went kaboom. Anyways, I do have it, so I'll make it available tonight, if I can remember.

Indeed, I did. I'll go get it now, before I forget again

EDIT: http://sukasa.kicks-ass.org/KompreSS.dll

Anyways, version 0.5 of the DLL, decompression works afaik, but the recompressor is broken and this new computer doesn't have VS6 on it yet, so it'll be a wihle before that gets fixed. The two functions in the DLL that -do- works are Decomp() and About().

Decomp() takes one parameter, and that is a byte array of the compressed data, to which it returns a byte array of the uncompressed data. NOTE THAT the functions are __stdcall in C/++

I can't think of anything to write here.
----------------------------
Well... more than the compression, I was refering to documentation and stuff... As in the adresses for the maps and whatnot... you obviously need to know these to edit them properly.

I just found it rather strange not to have found any sort of documentation of notes yet some people apparently has so much knowledge of it. But eh, maybe he did found it all by himself and doesn't want to upload his notes for now or whatever... or maybe they are lost in some random page on the internet, who knows.

And I think I already knew about that decompressor... didn't it also work for Kirby's Adventure or something?

Prepare to smush your mind.

Oh hello.

I've been working on hacking Kirby Super Star for a while now. I've uploaded what I've got so far on the wiki here.

Not quite enough for a level editor, but it's definitely something.

This is a very old thread... Though I guess I will also post this here:

http://www4.atpages.jp/borokobo/neo/index.html

Basically map viewers for most Kirby games (except, ironically, SDX... Though there is for USDX)

There is an in-progress full (awesome) Kirby's Adventure hack along with something that I don't know what does it do.

Somebody needs to figure out how to make abilities. Then this will be the most hacked SNES game, surpassing SMW.

I added some notes to that wiki page GoldS posted earlier. Additions include music and sound IDs, but the most interesting is probably the attack animation data and instruction set. The instruction set documentation is largely incomplete, but I've found the offsets for the scripts for almost every attack. Also, the data for the powers that objects give, the attack strength of attacks (only 3 attack IDs are known currently) and the sounds they produce is given (look under "Other Data").

With this data it may be possible to create a new attack just by modifying its animation script. Keep in mind, though, that other parts of an attack may not be included in these scripts such as generic animations like bouncing backward after attacking an enemy.

I'm guessing though if KSS and KDL3 are based off the same engine that ability porting wouldn't be nearly as difficult as having to do one from scratch. Of course, that's not to say it wouldn't still be difficult, just less so than if the games were coded from completely different bases.
