So, if someone says "pie" or "pi" aloud, what do you think of first?

Being a bit of a math brain, I probably think of the number pi first. I don't typically eat pie, either

Depends on context. Not sure what would happen without it. Usually if someone's saying pi(e), they're talking about food or numbers already.

What DOES someone saying "quot quot quot quot quot" make me think of?

Pie itself, though, if I'm thinking about food already, I tend to think of a food product by default. If I'm cranking numbers in my head I'm not in the mindset to hear someone talk about Pi so I don't hear them. Then there's math class when I'm not trying to actively do a problem...

Of course, it all depends on the context, but when one isn't present, I usually think of the confectionery.

Depends on the context. Talking about science or math, then the number and the letter. Talking about food, the food.

I guess I think about pie, because in Czech pi (π) is pronounced as "pee". I don't talk about math in English much, so...

Did you know there is a MASSIVE book called the "Book of Pi" that lists all the digits of the latest calculation of Pi? There are also several super computers devoted to solving Pi...nothing else...just Pi.

On a related note, what do you think will happen when we actually solve Pi?

...

Pi is irrational and transcendental, which means it has an infinite decimal expansion. Therefore, it is impossible to 'solve' Pi in the sense of knowing its exact numerical value, however close we might be able to approximate it.

Yes I know that Pi behaves this way, but in the far off future we might solve it...

Yeah, just around the same time we get around to diving by zero.

Seriously, our understanding of math would have to be pretty bad right now if it turned out that you could "solve" irrational numbers.

Well the concept of "Math" hasn't been known to humanity for a very long in the cosmic scheme of the universe. We are still a very young sentient species.
