Yes it is. Not on the article though.

*Rena plays a game where the US troops are the heroes, and loses. Whoops, time to ban that one!

Well, it's not surprising they banned it. I mean, it's probably not the best for morale.

Maybe so, but that's just taking games far too seriously. It's like Modern Warfare 2 with the skippable mission.

Metal Man, I love your quote box

Unfortunately, taking things too seriously seems to be their fate in life.

You can thank Treeki for the quote box. :p

I would've assumed they would have thought of it as a useful tool to practice operations and whatnot without actually going out there and dying beforehand.

Guess morale is more important. :|

Well, despite what content is actually in the game, it is still a work of fiction bought within the consumer's prerogative. I don't see why it should be banned, nobody's forcing anybody to actually buy it.

Well, they're allowing the troops to buy it. They're just making it less readily available for them by not selling it on their military bases.

I can also see why they wouldn't particularly want to show support for this game, so this ban isn't really a big deal.

Much like how plumbers used Pipe Dream to practice, right? Games may have gotten a bit more realistic since then, but... nowhere near enough.

I agree with The Red Snifit. The game's not being banned, they're just not selling it on their premises because they disagree with what it depicts, which is well within their rights.

I can see how it would go bothering some of the soldiers who come back and have PTSD or something, but I don't really feel that strongly about banning the game. I feel neutral on it, probably more because I probably won't play it anyway.

I'm getting abit sick at the one end of the stick they seam to shove in our faces. While the US tropes where sent there to protect the people, that does not mean that people did not die on both sides for dumb reasons.

Also, this ban is also even more dumb as it's only on video game store at army bases... so the people who may actually know what the truth looks like (and should therefor have no issues separating it from fiction) are the ones who don't get to play, unless they get it at another location, durrrrrr.

I have no problem with them banning the game from being sold on military bases. If you already lived through a rather painful event (hey guys! estimates are anywhere from almost 100,000 to 350,000 cases of PTSD from Iraq/Afghanistan, and the suicide rate for veterans 20-24 is 4x as high as for non-veterans 20-24, just saying), there's a decent chance you may not want to have to see depictions of it, much less people profiting from said depictions, especially if you know people who died (or are still dying!) over there.

If people want the game, there's absolutely nothing stopping them from getting it off-base.
