Played a few games against Miasmir last night.
Damn did I get slaughtered.
But I'm currently watching the replays and taking notes:
- His harassement with his scouts made me forget tons of stuff.
- Really failed my build order (Orbital Command in the early 20s? oh boy)
But I'm obviously learning from that. Taking mental notes, will help quite a lot. |

I also tend to build the Orbital Command quite late, but I got it down to like 15 or 16 supply mostly. One MULE call already nets you a little less than 150 minerals (use them on golden minerals and you get income blazingly fast), that just pays off the upgrade costs. As for the duration while the Command Center is upgrading and you cannot build any SCVs while that, one or two additional MULEs and you got more in than you invested. If you are in desparation and just hang behind your supply limits while your first two factories have units queued up, the quick instant-like +8 supply is also very nice.
Although I still more just use scan and still blow too often money on SCVs even later, while a MULE call is free/50 energy and returns a lot more than one worker.

You should play Aerakin. I estimate he's a high gold player from the games I had with him. Solid opening, some ok unit control, just not enough experience with transitions, scouting, and macro I think.
Or you could play me, |

Hah, my 2s partner was a lot better at Brood War than I was, so it's easier for us to be high ranked in 2s. I'm personally convinced that I'm a high diamond player in 1v1 as well but recently I've had work so I haven't been laddering for rank, just a few games a day to keep in practice.
The thing that separates me from the players above me is consistency of multitasking, especially scouting. I have a hard time remembering to keep checking for tech switches, except tvz I'm always scanning for spire or hive, I guess it's a Brood War habit.
The thing that separates THOSE players from the very best seems to be accuracy of control in all the little situations where you could gain a small edge. I played against qxc in ladder during the beta tvt and we both went for a marines and first hellion push that we both scouted. When our armies met, I was trying to catch his marines in a disadvantageous position with my hellion, but his marines instantly split as soon as he saw my hellion and I wasn't able to get a solid splash hit. Instantly, like there was a line of marines and then there was a pentagon. So obviously I lost, he got free hits on my hellion before the marines engaged. I can believe the reaction time but I have a hard time identifying with the presence of mind required to pull something like that off. |

I actually don't have this game in spite of the fact I totally want to. And I have my reasons for it. I just know that when I'll get it, I'll be totally addicted for years, my discipline will reach point zero and all my work will stay unfinished.
