We saw it on Saturday. It was great watching it in 3D again. I enjoy the clarity and crispness of Blu-rays and Avatar is one of the best to see on a nice big HDTV. But the 3D in this movie is just amazing. Its not just select scenes like other 3D gimmick movies. It was filmed 100% in 3D.

So as for the extra footage, there was barely any of the "love scene" added. Literally less than 20 seconds. The best added scene was a cooperative hunt by all the Na'vi. It shows the horse riders and the ikran riders working together to take out big rhino like creatures. There was a little bit add to the non-CG shots that gave some background or detailed info that was good, too. Such as explaining why the mountains float.

I would see it a 2nd time during the special edition re-release but my wife would protest. She isn't as big a fan of it as I am.

Shame that it's only out for one weekend. I was too busy to see it again.

It was never just IMAX even during its original release. It was IMAX 3D. Although it would have been awesome if they did film it simultaneously in IMAX for a full resolution film. True IMAX screens are huge. Most movies that are upscaled for IMAX release (AKA Ironman 2, Inception) don't even use the whole screen like they should. Only Transformers 2 was filmed in IMAX for certain scenes.
