Removing OtherOS was a monumentally retarded decision on Sony's part, raising the XBL subscription fee for no apparent reason with no real gain amongst all the other bullshit MS has done is also a retarded decision but not quite of the same level.

I am actually in the market to sell my Xbox so this doesn't really affect me at all, but I will say that Microsoft is just being Microsoft. They do this all the time with their other products, why not Xbox Live? Personally I think they are doing it because they know they can get away with it. Think about the average Xbox Gamer for a moment. Sure they will grumble and mumble a bit, but in the end they will pay it. Why? Because it is Xbox. Brainwashed consumerism at it's finest. ^^;

Glad I live in Canada, i was already paying an extra 10 a year. (Except I haven't payed and my 1 month free live just ran out)

Speaking of Microsoft, their harddrives are RIDICULOUSLY overpriced, as I can get an equal in performance 1TB HDD for my computer for the same price as their 120GB HDD. And then advertised functions, which don't state you need a harddrive for don't work. Don't have a harddrive in your Xbox? TOO BAD, NO MULTIPLAYER CAMPAIGN FOR YOU IN HALO 3 HAVE FUN >

Hell, laptop slim drives are cheaper.

I wonder if you could take the 20GB(?) drive that comes with the machine, and an 80GB external drive, and hack up a microcontroller to make it work like one big drive with five partitions that you select from via a switch. Same idea as those huge third-party N64/PSX memory cards that had a switch to select memory bank. The machine might not be able to tell any difference like it could if you actually swapped out the original drive.

Thank god I got my Xbox late and already have a 120gb harddrive.

IIRC, I've seen those 20gb harddrive in the past for LOTSA$$$$$$
