Awesome. The fact that the Pole Unizo Planet has water that wasn't part of the model like I anticipated makes me wonder if that Star Dust Star planet would have had it, too, as someone suggested earlier. It certainly seems to have the structure for it.

Edit: I could spend an entire day or two just looking through these level files. One small design change I noticed is that the hole planet in the Megaleg level is part of BattleShipKillerPlanetZone. Looks like the intended for it to go in Battlerock when they turned it into metal.


Edit: I've noticed that a good number of these zones have a "debug position" in them. Think there's a way we can make use of them? Or at least find a way to locate them and document them that way?

I don't know about debug position.

I did a quick scan-though Galaxy 2 zone and object files, and it looks like we won't find much there.
Folders for E3 Galaxy files exist, but they're empty.
There's a bunch of "test" zones, but the non-empty ones are used (for example FollowerDrillTest1Zone), and the rest is simply empty.

You might have more luck in ObjectData though, but I wouldn't be surprised if they cleaned everything.

Also, I tried spawning some enemies;
Donketu, DonketuKing and Kinopi fail to spawn.

I can load any model and animation though;
TetuKuri;
IceMan;
Donketu;
BossCrab;
OctoQueen;


If you have any desires as what to show in-game, or want to see Throwback Galaxy acting as a Goomba, just ask.

I'd love to see Dragon Head Flower.

Bathtub Planet would also be interesting, to see if the game actually handles hot water differently.

EDIT: Also, Sand Golem, since we can't see THAT in a viewer!

IIRC Billboarder is a model made out of balls and has over 50 animations.

According to the wiki, it's just flat bubble textures. So the animations won't show much, only the bubbles moving

Well, there are most of the requests, except I didn't do BillBird and BillDog, since those are just other billboarder shapes, and also the Sand Golem - it appears in the game as nothing but a small generic circle shadow.

Excuse me how the video cuts out at the end. The water has the exact same property as lava.

Dragonhead Flower is a lot more awesome than I imagined. So bouncey! And it's intriguing how the bathtub water hurts Mario like lava without the burn. I seem to recall something else in the game doing that, but I can't remember what.


I was afraid that SandGolem would be like that. The main body has essentially no model. The only way we'll be able to see it in full is if we somehow located the SandGolem object that ties all three of his parts together. But if that's the only object, then it looks like we won't be able to see it in action.

The thing about that one is, it's a low model, so it might not have collision for it. You'd have to fly around it to look at it, presumably.

Hmmm, I just thought of something. Sound effects and sequences? Know any way we could look for unused ones there? I don't quite know if that's out of our league right now, because as far as I know there isn't anything that can interpret/play the sequences, like in_cube/whatever can do for streams.
