To help with my digestive issues (let's leave them as that), my mother imposed on me to "take the Activia Challenge". The first time, I just got bored with it, so I stopped. The second time, a week in, I started getting constipated, which made my already-bad digestive issues much much worse.

But then I got thinking. Yogurt is good for you, it helps you get rid of bad breath, it comes in every flavor except for pickle (seriously! Why not? It'd be delicious!), and it's another dairy product. I already drown myself in milk and cheese a lot, so I think I'm good on that, actually.

Still though, I'd eat more yogurt if:
1) It came in human-being-sized portions. Those cups just aren't cutting it. It's literally *scoop gulp scoop gulp empty*. Two scoops of a humble spoon to empty a cup? Who's going to be satisfied with that nonsense?

2) I want no-bullshit yogurt. This "lite", "thin 'n slim", "screw around with your insides (Activia)" yogurt seems like it's a lot less healthy than me just chewing on a chicken nugget (which, by the way, I would rather be doing ).

3) I want to know what yogurt even has in it that's good for you. Chicken and meats have protein, milk and cheese has calcium, tea has antioxidants, so what's yogurt's deal?

Also, why are yogurt commercials targeted at women? I already know women are more likely to buy stuff they see on tv, but why is yogurt, of all things, marketed to them? Activia makes sense because it's bullshit and doesn't work, and nobody would buy it otherwise, but regular no-nonsense yogurt? Is it just inherently feminine to eat yogurt?

Yogurt has calcium and Vitamin D, same as milk. It also has beneficial bacteria in it thats healthy for your digestive track regardless of the brand. They sell it in large quantities if you get the plain yogurt. Usually in the same sizes you can get cottage cheese in. But you'll want to add fruit and maybe a few drops of vanilla flavoring or something. Plain yogurt has an acquired taste.

Here in Las Vegas, they have a place called "The Red Mango" that does frozen yogurt. Not that ice-cream wannabe stuff. It tastes like real yogurt, traditional European stuff. Its really good.

oh no pokeman
My mother once had... homemade yogurt.

It consisted on normal milk on a kind of fungus or something. I don't know if that was seriously edible. I think they ate it.
Like, it was a bowl with this white giant mold and milk.

Anyways, you probably should instead get plain yogurt and add stuff to it.

The local grocery store's (wegmans) self-branded yogurt is pretty good and the cups are reasonable size. It's also not the light nonsense which has very little benefit compared to real yogurt. I often eat it with breakfast in the morning if we have any.

Yeah those small cups are nonsense. But we have a store which sells large 1.5 liter bottles of yogurt. These actually take some time to get empty.

I tried Activia and I think it wreaks too much havoc on my system. It also tastes more bitter to me than other types of yogurt.

I usually stick with Yoplait, Dannon Light (I'm not too fond of the normal Dannon that you have to stir), and the Kroger brand. Weight Watchers is okay, too. I used to like Blue Bunny, but nobody sells it around here anymore.

I used to have a lot of it, but I stopped for some reason. I can't remember which flavors I had.

I've considered trying it again, but I'm just insanely paranoid on wasting money on food I might not like nowadays... even if a tiny bit.

I usually toss yogurt in the freezer to freeze it to solve the "bite, gulp, bite, gulp, gone" problem. Just be careful about how thin the plastic is in the yogurt container you use, or you'll be finding that your spoon will also go through the plastic.

And I usually just get store brand yogurt. Screw the paying for a name brand junk.

Coffee yogurt is yummy. Vanilla too... but only certain kinds. You can really tell the difference between actual vanilla and vanilla flavoring.

Honey mixed with yogurt is good too. I only know this because I once went with my friend for breakfast; since I had already eaten, I just decided to order yogurt. I end up with this huge bowl of yogurt drizzled with honey.

Another solution to the small portion problem is to eat more than one. Yogurt's pretty cheap, so...

I imagine it's related to the high sugar content of some of the brands of yogurt, where by the time you're done with the cup, you've had as much sugar as a considerable amount of candy. Also brands aimed at children will be minuscule because I don't know... I could certainly have eaten more then what most of those provide, and I imagine most children could have as well, but again, they're probably loaded with a ton of sugar so they need to balance it out, I guess. I'd rather have something more filling than nauseatingly sweet.

I prefer real yogurt, that is, low sugar with almond/granola and mango pieces.

The sugary candy yogurt tastes good, but ultimately is no better than just eating ice cream after a point. :p

I used to eat DanActive yogurt every morning, but eventually stopped... still enjoy my occasional yogurt (Dannon 60 calories =D) though =)

I tried Danimals, a brand aimed at children, once and it was bland and flavorless. To add insult to injury, it was hard to scoop it out of the container because the sides are ridged (!!) Never again will I eat that kind.

I'm just fine with light varieties that have no or reduced sugar, although not everyone is okay with consuming Nutrasweet.

We had some Red Mango frozen yogurt again, it really is great. You get a choice of toppings to go with it. I usually get mango (duh) and mochi balls. The yogurt itself has a slight bitter taste to it, like real yogurt. Most frozen yogurts they try to make it taste like ice cream and add vanilla flavoring or something.

I haven't eaten yogurt in a long time.

I tend to eat strawberry and/or banana.
