I've been a little sluggish, but that just comes with traveling.

I'm going to hate re-adjusting to my own time zone again after spending two weeks in a time zone three hours behind my own. My family's not gonna be happy that I stay up 'till 4 or 5 in the morning. >>;

Try doing that without changing timezones.

I swear, I've had the most erratic sleep schedule within the past week or two. First it goes normal, then I have my internal timer switch to go to sleep around 5 instead of 12 or so, now I'm sleeping for less time twice a day? Something must (not) be done about it.

You think your sleep schedule is bad? Heh. No matter when I go to bed, I always seem to wake up at one and I have to either spend hours on my computer or hours spinning around in my bed before I finally get to sleep. And for some reason, I always wake up at 9, then 10 and then back to sleep until 12. Then the whole thing repeats at about 8:30 that night. The only way to temporarily fix it is to stay awake for about 30 hours.

When you hit the 27-hour mark, quantum physics makes sense.

Eh, I just need to really fix my sleep schedule so I don't get WTFed out for going to bed at 4:00-5:00 in the morning after my trip.

People will understand jet lag if it's the last thing I do! *Fist shake*

Laptop or desktop? I have some old parts if you want them. 2.5ghz Athlon X2 mobo & ram, GeForce 8600 gt 256mb card. If they're any better than what you got.

This is my really, really old laptop -- as in, 1999 old, or around there. Barely runs a web browser competently.

There has to be a version of Netscape Navigator floating around somewhere for you.

Is it too nerdy to find out the formula to calculate how many light-years you travel in one hour at a certain warp factor?

I thought so...

Just depends on who you tell this sum of light-years to. Anyone here, probably not so nerdy. To some random person on the street... Nerdy!

I also keep screwing it up. I either get a number that is always less than one, or the warp factors are in reverse, where 9 is the least light years travelled and 1 is the most ¬¬

Reminds me of this free laptop we got a while back. Probably not as old, but Windows 2000, set up for dialup, and no Wi-Fi.

I think you might be able to get a wireless adapter for it, if you look around enough. I've never had any experience with laptops that don't have wireless cards, however.

At worst, you could try a USB adapter? It might be slow if it's 1.1 (which it might be), but it's CERTAINLY better than nothing at all, right?

Or use the good ol' network cable and some extension cords.

Just don't buy any ethernet cables from Best Buy or similar stores. It's such a ripoff it's fucking outrageous. I can get LONGER CORDS for MUCH LESS other places, and have actually done so!

Most accessories are rip-offs. SD cards bought at Best Buy/similar places are a perfect example compared to some of the low prices you can find online with reputable dealers.

Check places like Kmart, Big Lots or locally-owned stores, they have cheap prices for HDMI cables, ethernet cables, monitor cables, and other accessories. Big Lots typically has HDMI cables for like $12~$18, depending on the length. I've also bought a VGA cable at Kmart for only $16.99, and it works great from what I can tell =)

For stuff like SD cards, it's really a negligible difference, as far as I can tell. Only about a dollar more for a 2GB MicroSD, without the hassle of waiting for shipping.

Best Buy's prices have become more competitive on big ticket items like PCs and TVs. But their prices on accessories are still bad, mainly because they only offer limited brands. They don't carry the cheaper brands you find at Newegg.com or Tigerdirect.com. An 8GB SDHC card was $50 in store but I found one on Newegg for $30 and it was the faster speed version.
