| What do you think about the pop star Kesha? I have heard a lot of people say that they hate her, but her songs are so damn catchy. |

| Granted she is a lot like Lady Gaga, but I do respect her for one thing and one thing only. She objectifies men in her music the same way most artists objectify women. Lady Gaga does it more subtly but Kesha just comes out and says it. Objectifying men in mainstream media hasn't been done since Lil Kim so in a way I am proud of Kesha. |

I can't stand her musical style, really. It's like she just talks the songs, not singing or even rapping, for the most part. Like a 12-year-old girl on her cell phone. Ugh.
I like some of the beats though. ____________________

XD Granted Terra.
I also like the beats better than the actual lyrics. Keep in mind that I don't actually listen to her. I just heard one of her songs on the radio and realized how similar she was to Lil Kim. |

Kesha = Stop talking and start singing.
At least if you ask me.

 | And this is yet another reason why I'm glad I quit listening to pop music. I can't even tell any of today's artists apart from each other on the off chance that I catch some "fake slutty techno pop" or "sex, hoes, gangstas, and bling bling garbage (c)rap" while skimming the radio stations. All I know is to me, it's all generic lifeless shit that makes my ears bleed while trying WAY too hard to be edgy, trendy, and explicit without an ounce of originality or genuine feeling. It's all, "Lets show some ass, sing/rap/talk badly about ass, sell our souls to the music industry, and crank out a ton of the same shitty formula so we can get truckloads of monies because that's all that matters".

I don't think that should be anything worth respecting, in my opinion.
To me, this is somewhat like if a woman campaigned to deny men the right to vote because they denied women the right to vote for many years. Putting aside the fact that such a campaign would run straight into the ground, I wouldn't be thinking, "Wow, I respect her for trying to bring justice to women." Instead, I'd be thinking, "Wow, she's trying to deny about half of our population the right to vote." I could cut her a little slack for campaigning in the name of justice, or whatever, but this certainly isn't the way she should be doing it.
The same thing, although on a much smaller scale, applies here. |

I can see your point. I just respect her a little for doing something that it is essentially taboo in popular culture. At least that is how it is in America. I am not saying she is bringing "justice" to women. I just like the fact that she is objectifying men. As far as I am concerned it is fair game and it is refreshing to see it being done in my opinion. |

| I agree Terra. It is really nice to see musicians that are fully comfortable with their personal identities. In my opinion you can't write/play music if you aren't completely honest with yourself. Passion is what makes music wonderful and if it isn't there than you might as well pack up and get a day job. I also find musicians that dabble in a variety of different mediums and styles very refreshing. An artist that clings to a particular style comes off as flat and unadventurous to me. |
