Last US troops leave Iraq, except a training force.

I never was a fan of the Iraq War and always thought it was an unnecessary waste of money and lives. I'm glad that it finally has ended

Yea, finally we can put the money we will be saving to better uses, such as medical and environmental research, etc! =)

I never liked that war anyway...

For real, this time. Though I guess we're going to have a lot of troops over there for a very long time.

It's not much to me, most of the money from there is just being moved into Afghanistan.

Why doesn't any US president read a book about Vietnam, realize we have no place as interventionist warmongers, and focus all that lost money into improving our economy/country instead?

I believe that the USA should stop declaring war entirely.

The military's purpose should be defence and possibly helping out if a World War III occurs.

Wait... My friend just left for a 10 month tour of duty in Iraq last week. As far as she knew, she wasn't part of a training force, she was supposed to be keeping the peace (and the people, she's a medic) alive in a northern province.

Strange. But good news regardless, I guess. We really should have never been there. Iran on the other hand... Maybe Bush spelled the name wrong in his letter to Congress asking for war to be declared.

50,000 troops are still there until next year for training (though I believe they can enter into combat if necessary, it isn't their main purpose).

So it's not "over", but it's a lot better than it was.

Hmm, must've ran out of oil. Pointless war.

I want to believe that future administrations will take not of the failures in the Iraq War and work to keep us out of foreign affairs. I understand that with a global economy complete isolationism is impossible but the Founding Fathers had the right idea by keeping America isolationist. We really need to return to those roots and get out dick out of everyones asses. Maybe they will like us better after that.

*sigh* One can always dream. As I said before, I WANT to believe that we will mind our own business, but I know that it will never really happen. I am glad our troops are coming home though.

We've been doing it since 1898, you'd think we would have gotten better at it by now. I hope Iraq and Afghanistan go the way of Germany, Japan, and Korea but I am more inclined to believe they will go the way of Angola, Nicaragua, and Vietnam.

We get it. Democracy is [theoretically] good and just. But putting countries in a camel clutch doesn't always make them humble. Sometimes they just get pissed.
