1. Publix
2. Target
3. Walmart
4. Walgreens
5. Taco Bell
6. Best Buy
7. Wendy's
8. Home Depot
9. Lowes

Actually, the list could go on for a while and I don't have the time nor the want. But you get the idea.

Oh and they're building a Toys R Us.

I live a few blocks from a 7-Eleven.

It's nice if I want something at an odd hour, as most stores aren't open 24/7.

Other than that food store and a 7-eleven, there's really nothing but a bunch of specialty stores around here.

I'm in the city, so there aren't many big-box places. I guess a whole Wal-Mart doesn't fit comfortably into Seattle's 1/16-mile street grid.

Anya, if you really wanted to get people to stop posting, you'd scatter my name throughout the board.

It's scientifically proven to negate activity.

Anya: got any Kroger in southern FL? IIRC, parts of northern FL have Kroger...

The closest drug store is Rite Aid (which seems to be the big chain around here), and I've even lived very close to a 24-hour Kmart (although that store isn't 24 hours anymore =/)

Kroger, never heard of it.

We used to have Rite Aid here but they closed all the locations. I was shocked when I found out there there's still locations in other states.

OK everyone, don't say "The Red Snifit"

I'm close to a Rite Aid, where I have a savings card for non-prescription items, and a Walgreens, where I have a savings card for prescriptions.

Closest grocery store I have is... Giant, I believe.

...I wonder if that's really big outside of PA?

For grocery stores, I've got a Publix (that I can see out my window), Winn-Dixie and a Penn Dutch. The last two I haven't been in.

Winn-Dixie I have been in, just not this location.

The closest big-box to me is a Target... I vastly prefer Kmart and Target over Walmart.

The one store I used to hate years ago was Bradlees... Caldor and Ames were so much better =(

I'm near a Safeway. I don't remember ever encountering a Safeway before I went to Seattle. I have their savings card, too

Closest store like that to me is probably Wal-Mart.

It's not too terrible, but I'd rather go elsewhere for a lot of stuff.

What's "big-box"?

I've been in a Safeway (I think) when I was in VA. Or was it Maryland?

Price Chopper and Hannaford are the two supermarkets around here. Doesn't look like any other supermarkets will be attempting to enter the Albany area anytime soon...

Back when I was very little, Stop & Shop was in the Albany area, but they'd left by 1990 or so...

A big box is like a store that sells pretty much everything. Walmart, Target, Kmart, etc.

I remember Food Lion being the prominent supermarket chain in Virginia.

Now that I think about it, there's also a fairly close Acme to here, too.

Giant's probably the closer of the two, though...

Metro Detroit has a fuckload of independent supermarkets, largely because Farmer Jack folded in the mid-2000s.

There seems to be like 4 different chains named "Giant Foods" or similar in the Mid-Atlantic states... are they all related? =P
